Australian legend Matthew Hayden is eager to watch Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal play in Australia. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is just around the corner and starts November 22.
Yashasvi Jaiswal acquired his first Test century in his debut match against West Indies in July 2023. The 22-year-old cricketer scored 171 runs in the first innings against West Indies. Moreover, Yashasvi was awarded the Player of the Match in his debut game. In the Test series against England in January 2024, the young batter scored 80 runs off 74 balls in the first innings.
In addition, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the third Indian to score a double century in Test cricket after Sunil Gavaskar and Vinod Kambli. I’m looking forward to seeing how he adjusts on bouncy tracks. We did notice a few times in the IPL that he’s a very hard hitter of the ball, pull shots in particular.
Furthermore, Matthew Hayden warned Yashasvi Jaiswal of Australian pacers. Matthew Hayden mentioned three pacers, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazelwood. He said.
“But that will be challenged by three world-class speedsters (Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood), assuming they are all fit, and on much bigger grounds as well – grounds where it has to almost be the perfect contact for that ball to sail over for six. You can get caught easily, three-quarters of the way in the fence. So they have little adjustments that world-class players like Jaiswal will make for sure,”
Yashasvi Jaiswal records a total of 1028 runs in Test cricket with an average of 68.53 in nine matches. The 22-year-old highest score is 214 not out in the Test. The youngster has three centuries and four half-centuries to his name in Test cricket. Moreover, recently, Yashasvi Jaiswal won the best Test batter of the year award for his performance against England.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy starts November 22, with the first Test between India and Australia in Perth. The second Test will be from December 6 to December 10 in Adelaide. Brisbane will host the third Test from December 10-18. The fourth Test will be hosted in Melbourne from December 26-30. The last and fifth Test will be from January 03, 2025, to January 07 in Sydney.
