RCB vs DC: 3 Reasons For RCB’s Shocking Defeat Against DC

RCB came back to their home ground, and so did their losing streak. They lost their second match at their home ground this season. They looked quite clueless in the Chinnaswamy pitch. Once again, the opponent has outplayed them and chased the target easily. Let’s look at the key reasons for RCB‘s defeat against DC

Poor pitch analysis and shot selection

RCB again thought that this was a 220 wicket and went hard from the first ball. They got success initially as Phil Salt gave a great start, and RCB reached 53 runs in 3 overs. But, unfortunately, he got run out in the 4th over. The momentum changed towards DC from there.

After the powerplay, the ball got older and the wicket became a little slower. It was difficult to time the ball well. But, RCB batters had the wrong choice of shots, which cost them their wicket. Batters lost their wickets at the wrong time and couldn’t regain the momentum anywhere.

Tim David played a crucial cameo in the last 2 overs, helping the team go past 160 runs. Tim David didn’t play any across-the-line shots. He just played to the merit of the ball and hit with the straight bat, which gained him runs. The other RCB batters failed to do that. Everyone lost their wicket by playing across-the-line shots.

Bowling plans

Rajat Patidar used 3 overs of Bhuveneshwar Kumar in the powerplay. Rajat introduced Hazlewood in the last over of the powerplay. The pitch was a bit slower, and the ball was stopping in the crease for a second. The slower ones of Bhuveneshwar Kumar would have been more effective with the old ball.

Hazlewood is a hit-the-deck bowler. He could have produced that extra bounce and seam movement with the new ball.  If Bhuvneshwar the ball in the 16th over instead of Hazlewood, the result would have ended differently. Hazlewood is nothing less than a great bowler, but Bhuvneshwar is comparatively the best in death bowling. He has won matches for SRH in the past.

DC had 3 front-line spinners and 1 of them had a bad day, while the other 2 took control of the game in the middle overs. In RCB, both Krunal Pandya and Liam Livingstone couldn’t create the same impact as the DC Spinners. Suyash Sharma bowled really well and conceded just 25 runs in 4 overs and took the wicket of captain Axar Patel.

But, apart from Suyash Sharma, none of the other RCB bowlers could create pressure in the middle overs.
