After facing failure in the test series against England West Indies need to move on, West Indies will be hosting two test series against South Africa which will commence from August 17. South Africa would be keen to bounce back strongly after the heart-wrenching defeat in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against India. South Africa haven’t lost a Test series in West Indies even more than last 20 years which makes them invincible in Caribbean
West Indies need to focus on their core players and what mistakes were committed in England need to rectify it, as they stand at the bottom of the points table. All eyes will be on Jason Holder who has a prolific record in West Indies who will also have to lead the bowling attack along with Kemar Roach as West Indies’ arsenal is their express pace along and impeccable accuracy.
West Indies names Joshua De Silva as vice-captain
West Indies will be playing two test series with South Africa in Trinidad, major updates from the camp are veteran player Kemar Roach returns to the squad and three new players will be joining the squad they are Tevin Imlach, Bryan Charles, and Keacy Carty. West Indies deputy captain Alzarri Joseph has been rested for this series as he had featured in the England series so due to workload management he has been rested, Joshua De Silva has been named as new deputy captain for this series.
West Indies head coach clarifies the reason behind resting Alzarri Joseph, Andre Coley said:
“The squad we have chosen for this series is a balanced mix of experience and youth, strategically selected to maximize our performance in the conditions of Trinidad and Guyana. We have decided to rest our vice-captain Alzarri Joseph for this series. Alzarri has had a considerable workload recently, and this break will allow him to recuperate and return to peak performance. Kevin Sinclair is presently recovering from an injury,” Coley said in a statement release.
