Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered another batting masterclass as they crushed Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in a high-scoring encounter. While multiple SRH batters contributed to the massive 255/4 total, it was Ishan Kishan who completely shifted the momentum with a fearless 79 off just 46 deliveries. Ishan Kishan’s innings, packed with eight Fours and three towering sixes at a strike rate above 171, dismantled RCB’s bowling plans and left the visitors chasing shadows throughout the evening.
Early Momentum Allowed Ishan Kishan to Attack Freely
SRH got off to a flying start through Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head with 45 runs partnership in 4 overs. Abhishek smashed 56 from only 22 balls, while Head added 26 off 16. Their aggressive approach pushed SRH to 97/2 within the first nine overs, creating the perfect platform for Kishan to dominate the middle phase.
When Ishan Kishan arrived at the crease, RCB were already under pressure, but the left-hander made sure they never recovered. Instead of taking time to settle, he immediately targeted the pace bowlers with calculated aggression. Rasikh Salam, despite picking up two wickets, leaked 52 runs in four overs, and Kishan punished him repeatedly through the off side whenever width was offered.
Ishan Kishan Targeted RCB’s Pace Unit Relentlessly
RCB’s biggest issue was their inability to execute yorkers consistently. Josh Hazlewood conceded 55 runs in his spell, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar went wicketless for 51. Kishan used the pace of both bowlers brilliantly, opening the bat face behind point and driving through extra cover whenever they pitched fuller.
The left-hander was especially dangerous between overs 10 and 17, where SRH completely took control of the innings. During this phase, Kishan rotated strike smartly against Krunal Pandya before attacking the seamers at the other end. Krunal managed one wicket but still conceded 24 runs in only two overs, unable to stop the run flow.
One of the defining moments of Ishan Kishan’s innings came during the death overs. RCB attempted slower balls and wide yorkers, but the SRH batter stayed deep in the crease and created room beautifully. His ability to convert length deliveries into boundary opportunities frustrated the bowlers continuously.
Heinrich Klaasen- Ishan Kishan Partnership Broke RCB’s Resistance
The partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan completely buried RCB in the second half of the innings. The duo stitched 113 runs partnership in 48 balls as Klaasen blasted 51 from just 24 balls with five sixes, and together the duo attacked almost every over after the 12th.
RCB spinner Suyash Sharma briefly provided hope with a wicket, but SRH’s aggressive intent never slowed down. Kishan cleverly targeted the shorter boundary against spin while maintaining pressure on the pacers. The wicketkeeper-batter mixed lofted drives, pulls, and sweeps to keep the fielders constantly moving.
By the 18th over, SRH had already crossed 220, and Kishan ensured the innings finished with maximum damage. The left-hander continued attacking till the very last ball of the innings before getting dismissed on 79 off 46 deliveries. He attempted another aggressive shot against Rasikh Salam in the final over but was caught by Devdutt Padikkal near the boundary. Even though RCB finally managed to remove him, Kishan had already inflicted massive damage on the bowling attack with eight fours and three sixes during his thunderous knock.
RCB’s Chase Never Truly Threatened SRH
RCB responded aggressively with Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer attacking in the powerplay. Iyer smashed 44 from 19 deliveries, while Rajat Patidar kept the chase alive with a 56-run knock. However, SRH’s total proved far beyond reach.
Eshan Malinga delivered an impressive spell of 2/33 and removed both Venkatesh Iyer and Devdutt Padikkal at crucial moments. Sakib Hussain also bowled with control, conceding only 31 runs in four overs while picking up Kohli’s wicket.
Despite late resistance from Krunal Pandya and Tim David, RCB eventually finished at 200/4, falling 55 runs short of the target.
Ishan Kishan’s Knock Sends A Warning To The Rest Of IPL
Ishan Kishan’s innings was not just about power-hitting; it was a complete T20 batting exhibition built on timing, awareness, and relentless pressure. He identified RCB’s weaker overs perfectly, attacked the pace bowlers without hesitation, and maintained momentum throughout the innings. Ishan Kishan has accumulated 569 runs so far in 14 matches with an average of 40.64 & a mind-boggling strike rate of 178.37.
For SRH, the performance once again highlighted their explosive batting depth. But for RCB, the match exposed major concerns in death bowling and execution under pressure. On a night filled with boundaries and fireworks, Kishan stood tallest, turning an already dangerous SRH batting lineup into an unstoppable force.
