SFU VS WAF: San Francisco Unicorns Stop Washington Freedom’s Winning Streak

Major Cricket League (MLC) San Francisco Unicorns finally stopped the winning streak of mighty Washington Freedom and won the match by 6 wickets with the DLS method.

Travis Head and Steve Smith made the day for Washington Freedom

San Francisco Unicorns had opted to bowl first but Washington Freedom took advantage of it. Openers Travis Head and Steve Smith had a solid start and smashed runs for the team, also scored fifty which made problem for San Francisco Unicorns bowlers to think about. Later both lost their wicket but set a benchmark for the next batters and so Andries Gous kept scoring but couldn’t make it big he scored 29 runs, later a small cameo by Rachin Ravindra helped to get runs but unfortunately got run out but the end team’s score was 174 after 15.3 overs as rain spoiled the game in between.

Forgetful day for San Francisco Unicorns bowlers

San Francisco Unicorns need to forget the day as the bowlers failed to perform well. Despite winning the toss they couldn’t hold their nerves properly and so many runs were conceded. Only Corey Anderson picked 2 wickets rest of the bowlers were too expensive. If the rain won’t spoil the game then the score could exceed beyond 200. Ahead of the playoffs, both teams will face each other yet another time for Qualifier 1.

Sanjay Krishnamurthi shined for San Francisco Unicorns

So the rain spoiled the game and also reduced one over but the target increased by 2 runs but it didn’t affect San Francisco Unicorns. Despite losing the wicket of Finn Allen on the first ball Jake Fraser McGurk took the game ahead with young fire Sanjay Krishnamurthi, after a small fightback Jake Fraser McGurk lost his wicket but Sanjay Krishnamurthi kept the chase alive and Josh Inglis supported him and so they kept scoring runs and so Sanjay Krishnamurthi scored a well-deserved half-century and scored  79 runs including 6 sixes and 5 fours, an inning which will be appreciated by everyone, even Josh Inglis played an impressive inning of 45 in 17 balls smashing mammoth 6 sixes, but lost the wicket, Hassan Khan stabled the innings as game was heading towards the end as he also played an excellent knock of 32 in just 12 balls which helped San Francisco Unicorns to register a win over Washington Freedom and stopped their winning streak. Sanjay Krishnamurthi was adjourned as Player Of the Match.

Washington Freedom bowlers fail to succeed

As the target was to be completed within 14 overs it was like a challenge for Washington Freedom bowlers but couldn’t succeed in the end. Every bowler kept conceding runs but still, Andrew Tye was the highlighted bowler he picked 3 wickets despite giving 41 runs. Today both team’s bowlers have disappointed their fans.
