James Anderson, an experienced pacer for England, recently listed the top bowlers and batters he has faced throughout his lengthy career. On Wednesday, July 10, at Lord’s, the iconic fast bowler will play his final Test match for England against the West Indies. The two finest fast bowlers Anderson faced were former South African speedster Dale Steyn and Australian icon Glenn McGrath.

Even though McGrath and Steyn each had unique skills, James Anderson thought it was hard to distinguish between the two. Jimmy has a great record when it comes to fast bowling. He is considered as the greatest of all time by many cricketers and experts around the world.

He has caused problems for all of the world’s best batters, including Ricky Ponting, Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Kane Williamson. With that dukes ball, he is a batsman’s worst nightmare when facing green wickets.

James Anderson picks the best players that he has faced in his entire career. He said:

“The best bowler I have faced, probably Glenn Mcgrath or Dale Steyn. Hard to pick between the two. Slightly different bowlers, both world-class. Best batter, I would have to say, Sachin Tendulkar.”

In Test cricket, James Anderson has removed Sachin Tendulkar up to nine times. Tendulkar faced 350 balls in the Tests against Anderson and scored 208 runs.

Michael Vaughan, the former captain of England, praised James Anderson, pointing up his longevity and 987 international wickets. Although there is much disagreement on whether Anderson is the best fast bowler of all time, Vaughan believes the England great is unquestionably in the top ten players of all time.

On this, here’s what Vaughan said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast:

“In international cricket, I think he (Anderson) has got 987 polls. He could easily be up there. He is certainly England’s greatest by a good mile or two because Stuart Broad is close and the likes of Freddie Trueman back in the day were outstanding. I think he is in the top 10 cricketers of all time.”

James Anderson is all set to retire after the first test match against West Indies at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
