Lanka Premier League Galle Marvels keeps their winning momentum and dethroned Kandy Falcons by 8 wickets. It was a comprehensive victory and Galle Marvels have made their position even more stronger after this win.
Andre Fletcher shines for Kandy Falcons
Kandy Falcons were called to bat first and they shined pretty well despite they lost 9 wickets. Kandy Falcons made a solid start in the powerplay and felt like they can surpass 200 and will register a mammoth score in front of Galle Marvels but Kandy Falcons lost control after powerplay, as they were stable condition till 12th over but a sudden collapse brought Kandy Falcons confidence down and felt like can they score beyond 160 but they did after Andre Fletcher’s impactful innings of 69 runs, Ramesh Mendis scored quick 28 runs which played as an impact role in the innings and took team’s to 187 which at one time it felt below 160.
A good at the office for Galle Marvels with the ball
Galle Marvels not only won the toss but also they bowled well, Galle Marvels gave a solid performance with the ball which made Kandy Falcons to surrender in the end who were ruling over them since powerplay. Prabath Jayasuriya picked 3 wickets while Dwanye Pretorius picked 2 wickets. Overall it was a team game and all bowlers picked wickets.
Alex Hales and Bhauka Rajpaksa made the day for Galle Marvels
So the target was quite big but Galle Marvels made it simple. Galle Marvels also gave a solid start but they didn’t lost much wickets in between Alex Hales and Bhaunka Rajpaksa stood up and took the team to winning mark and kept team’s hopes alive. Alex Hales scored unbeaten 86 runs while Bhanuka Rajpaksa scored unbeaten 46 runs, both had a solid partnership and played impactful innings which made that win even more easier for them. Prabath Jayasuriya was adjourned as Player Of the Match.
Kandy Falcons failed to shore
Batting was quite appreciable as batters stood up and scored runs, but bowlers had no answers infront of this, skipper Wanindu Hasaranga picked 1 wicket and Andre Fletcher pikced 1 wicket rest no other bowler picked wicket nor bowled an economical spell. Bowlers failed to rose the occasion and so they lost the match.
