Lankan Premier League, it’s time to commence the playoffs and it’s Qualifier 1 between Galle Marvels and Jaffna Kings Galle Marvels dominated throughout the game and are through to the finals of LPL 2024.
Jaffna Kings had a great day with the bat
Jaffna Kings got a setback at the start of the game as Pathum Nissanka lost its wicket within the first over. Later Kusal Mendis and Rilee Rossouw took the innings forward and played quite aggressively and felt Jaffna Kings could make it above 200 but soon Rilee Rossouw lost his wicket but the innings went ahead and another setback was Kusal Mendis then it was looking tough for Jaffna Kings but Avishka Fernando stood after both lost their wicket and scored a brilliant fifty which was must need but later, in the end, no one could support completely and so the total was 177 onboard.
Dwaine Pretorius made the day for Galle Marvels
Galle Marvels had made up their mind to sweat everything for today’s match and they performed beyond expectations bowlers stole the hearts of everyone as they held their nerves and bowled well. Dwaine Pretorius stole the show seems like he was the most efficient bowler who shined for Galle Marvels he picked 4 wickets while Isuru Udana picked 2 wickets and Prabath Jayasuriya picked 1 wicket. Galle Marvels had a great tournament, especially with the ball they did everything right and so they did today.
An easy job for Galle Marvels batters
After a brilliant bowling performance, it’s time for batters to grab that ‘W’ into their pocket. Batters made their job easier as Alex Hales steadily kept making runs as Niroshan Dickwella lost his wicket very early. Later Alex Hales also lost his wicket but as we say cricket is a team game one goes another stands so it was two who stood later Tim Seifert and Janith Liyanage scored brilliant fifties and made the task easy for them and so they chased down the target within 18.1 over and sealed the final berth of LPL 2024. Dwaine Pretorius was adjourned as Player Of the Match.
All went wrong with Jaffna Kings bowlers
As batters made the stage, but bowlers failed to rise to the occasion. Only Azamatullah Omarzai, Fabian Allen, and Tabraiz Shamsi picked 1 wicket each rest none of the bowlers bowled well and even conceded many runs. Still, they have one chance to make themselves prove as they will face the winner of the eliminator in Qualifier 2.
