Lankan Premier League 2024 Kandy Falcons registered a crucial win in the eliminator and made themselves even stronger to play for Qualifier 2 as they eliminated Colombo Strikers from the Lankan Premier League.
Sadeera Samarawickrama stood for Colombo Strikers
Colombo Strikers were invited to bat first despite having a solid start they couldn’t make it big. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave a great start but later his innings were restricted to 30 and later it made it quite difficult to score in middle over phase. But Sadeera Samarawickrama stood tall and played a crucial knock of 62 though he also lost his wicket his knock helped the Colombo Strikers to score a respected total. In death, Dunith Wellalage scored a cameo of 28 runs and finally, Colombo Strikers reached up to 159.

Exceptional bowling from Kandy Falcons
Kandy Falcons was having luck with them and so it helped them. First, they won the toss and so the toss was also proven right. Things went in the right way as the game went ahead. All bowlers bowled well, Mohammed Hasnain picked 3 wickets, while skipper Wanindu Hasaranga picked 2 wickets. Tight bowling was exhibited by the Kandy Falcons. As it is an eliminator it is or die situation they gave their everything as much it was possible.

It’s time for batters to smash hits out of the park and so they adhered to their words, despite having a good powerplay start was quite bad. Dinesh Chandimal lost his wicket very early later Andre Fletcher stabled the innings but he also walked back to the pavilion. Kamindu Mendis stood from one end and scored a brilliant fifty which was must needed in that situation, later unfortunately he also lost his wicket but the match was under the Kandy Falcons. In between Dasun Shanaka played a brilliant knock of 39 a great cameo showed the potential of the player and how a batter should stabilize the innings from their side. Kandy Falcons won the match by 2 wickets and lost a couple of wickets still a team performance seen by them and Kamindu Mendis was adjourned as Man Of the Match.

Great bowling went in vain for the Colombo Strikers
After a decent performance in batting, it’s all on bowlers who could make them through to the next round but destiny had other plans, despite taking an early breakthrough it didn’t support much still wickets were falling at regular intervals were no tight bowling which Kandy Falcons did. Binura Fernando and Matheesha Pathirana picked 3 wickets rest no other bowlers could pick more than 1 wicket only Shadab Khan and Isitha Wijesundera picked 1 wicket each. And it’s official Colombo Strikers are knocked out of the tournament.
