Zimbabwe vs Tanzania: The Chevrons Complete A Clean Sweep After Another Dominating Finish

Heading into the final group stage match for both these side, Zimbabwe and Tanzania were in a very one-sided affair that resulted in who would finish first amongst this group. Seeing that it was the Chevrons, they got yet another 100+ run victory after winning by 113 and now are fully motivated at 3-0, going into the semi-finals, which could mean the world for them.

A side that has continued looking more and more formidable, returning back to the T20 World Cup, they have shown dominance in all three phases, while also proving why they could be a potential team to look out for come February. Captain Sikandar Raza was once again fantastic as his leadership has been a huge key to this side’s success.

Meanwhile, Tanzania will have to go back to the drawing board before their semi-finals match because this one proved that this side still has a few weaknesses, despite starting 2-0. With them already locking in a spot for the semi-finals as well, they are going to most likely play another challenge in Namibia and will have to be more than prepared for that in a couple days.

A group that can win very tight games, their main point of emphasis now is trying to learn how to win in these big run chases and really limit the more skillful batsmen. Their captain in Kassim Nassoro, will continue helping this team build and potentially lead them to an upset victory with great motivation.

Zimbabwe: A First Innings That Has Shown The Consistency Of This Side Once Again

When looking at how Zimbabwe batted today, it was clear that they were able to dominate once again and really score a lot of runs with relative ease. Given that Brian Bennett opened once again, his first partnership with Tadiwanashe Marumani of 138 runs was absolutely fantastic.

Seeing that both of them kept hammering opposing bowlers, Marumani had scored 49 runs on 34 balls, while hitting two massive sixes before losing his wicket, which was the first for Zimbabwe. On the other end, Bennett continued on by creating a 31-run combination with captain Sikandar Raza, as they were able to help lead this side to a total of 169.

Raza had added a 21-run knock with 19 runs on just 9 balls, while hitting one four and two sixes, which helped accelerate the run-rate even more for this side. With him going, the last big partnership Bennett had was with Ryan Burl as they led this Chevrons side past 200, and the opener was able to score another massive century.

Scoring 111 runs, he was on fire with finding open parts of boundary and always seeming to be quick between the wickets. After going down and losing the 3rd for Zimbabwe, Ryan Burl was able to score 20+ runs and one massive maximum, while Dion Myers also added one to end this innings with a score of 221/5.

Tanzania: Bowling Attack Struggled Throughout This Match And Didn’t Provide Any Real Threat

On Tanzania’s bowling side, this is a group that couldn’t get any consistency in their overs and looked completely lost after getting hammered throughout. Starting it off, Khalidy Amari Juma had been very expensive this afternoon after nearly going for 10 an over, while also being smacked around in the powerplay overs.

Despite taking two wickets, it was clear that his plan wasn’t on point to attack the stumps, and batsmen were taking over his short balls, while Arun Yadav continued being a lackluster limited-overs bowler. Someone who allowed 25 runs during his two full overs bowled, it was clear that batsmen found him very favorable to hit.

Ally Kimote did also have two wickets on his end, but kept taking risks, which led to 42 runs allowed during his full quota of overs. Being someone who’s not consistent with his line and length, it was clear during this match as he gave up over 10 an over and was getting pulled away for boundaries by a variety of batsmen.

Looking at Sivaraj Selvraj, this was a piece that really couldn’t show life either, because in his four overs, he gave up 40, while getting trouble if he bowled it a little outside. Closing it out, a bowler who’s usually in form in Laksh Bakrania, didn’t provide that same effort today with a nearly 18 economy, while it seemed like his confidence was going down with every delivery.

Tanzania: Couldn’t Chase Down The Total As This Order Looked Completely Out Of It

For the batsmen on Tanzania, they had quite a few runs to get in order to win this match, but weren’t able to even get close to that score at all. Opening Arun Yadav hit a boundary in the first over, but was gone by the end of it as that was his only runs and struggled to create anything new.

Someone who usually tends to hammer bowlers when he is set, losing him early was already a problem when KA Ajith was also removed a couple overs later. As Ajith did hit two boundaries that looked very solid, he also struggled on other deliveries and was able to just score one during the remaining 12. Getting removed at 28/2, he departed for 9 on 14 deliveries and already had Tanzania in trouble.

As Amal Rajveen got out on a clean duck today, he was not looking smart with his shot-making ability and was the third man to go. Knowing that Mukesh Suthar also just faced 6 balls before his wicket, the only consistent piece was their other opener in Abhik Patwa, as he scored 32 runs on 22 balls.

Hitting 7 boundaries and looking for open parts all over the ground, this was someone who continued showing consistency in his hitting ability and got this team at 55 runs before getting out. Down the order, while wickets kept tumbling, Kassim Nassoro was another key piece who showed some promise and scored 25 while creating a 38-run partnership with Sivaraj Selvraj. Knowing Selvraj also scored 20, when both of them got out, it caused them to get cleaned up for 108.

Zimbabwe: Pacers and Spinners Really Do A Tremendous Job Of Finishing It

Zimbabwe’s bowling attack was a real key threat today as they showed how dangerous they could be under pressure and in big moments during this match. The left-handed Richard Ngarava had two wickets during his three overs, while showing great pace to allow just 13 with a 4.33 economy.

Despite Muzarabani not getting a wicket on the other end, his bouncer ability still created a threat and kept that economy around 7.25. The main story of today was right-handed pacer Brad Evans as he took another 4-wicket haul and made the Tanzania batting attack fall into a massive hole, while Sikandar Raza had two great overs of spin with two wickets plus a 3.00 economy.
