When we talk about cinema which is the mirror of society we see it as the one thing happening around us. The things common people face in a particular region/country are generally the topic of Indian movies. But the cinema of India, especially Bollywood, is more focused on anti-Pakistan movies.

While the people of both nations are not in as stressful a situation as they used to be, Indian Cinema has been evoking movies in the name of patriotism where they focus especially on bringing Pakistan in a bad light.

Patriotic festivals become money-making businesses for such movies

In the past 10 years after 2013 and 2014, the number of movies to invoke patriotic feelings has been increasing rapidly. Whether it is showing the direct situation of war and how bravely the soldier fights or winning in the world game everything is now connected to national pride. The movie makers of Indian cinema has been using this foolproof formula to drive the traffic of people to get them back in the theatres by making movies based on patriotic feeling.

Whether it is Singham Returns 2014, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara 2013 even Rustom in 2016 the movie directly or indirectly focuses on the patriotism of the Indian army police or naval force where they valiantly fought directly or indirectly against Pakistan and this is no surprised that these movies have been a massive hit in the box office.

If we talk about the movies that made it into a hit and box office critically a claim for the sports field we can count insert in movies that are generally based on the subtitle feeling of people against Pakistan. The movies like Gold in 2018 which is a well-known biopic on winning Olympic gold in hockey. 10 years ago, a biopic on Milkha Singh Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was released which also pointed out the anti-Pakistan sentiment in the emotion that the great flying Jatt has to go through in Pakistan and his PTSD from that place.

It also shows how brutal things were in Pakistan for non-Islamic people. Although in reality, the things on both sides were equally brutal for the opposite religion, the secularism policy of India made it less aggressive but it was here at some level even for revenge.

Why is Indian patriotism a mix of religion?

When you see such movies like Bhuj The Pride of India, Bell Bottom or even Sher Shah of 2021 all these movies have a subtle mixing of religion in portraying Indian patriotism. Why can we see that an Indian Hindu or Sikh is not liable to prove their loyalty to the nation while most of them are always proving their loyalty in every movie? They were often seen referring to some dialogues like how much they have given to the nation and will always give it no matter how the government treats them but never encounter proving their loyalty from another religion why?

People of Bollywood mix patriotism with religion whereas Muslim person is generally said to go back to Pakistan. These kinds of sentiments are not only ruining young minds but also spreading the level of hatred among the people which eventually gives rise to separation. Even if you agree or not, don’t you feel that there is a minute line of separation between the religions in the country? And if you observe that in the past decade, it has been increasing exponentially.

Even the movies made on real-life incidents, for example 2018 Alia Bhatt Starr Raazi where she spied in Pakistan was critically acclaimed and showed how Pakistan is in favor of war. Don’t you think the common people of both countries are against such things happening in the country? Why is Bollywood always showing even the common people who are not involved and promoting in a bad light?

Apart from proving your loyalty, we are also putting Islam in a bad light through the movies and web series. The major OTT platform of India Disney Plus Hotstar has made series life freelancer, Akelii, Special ops and many more difficult on a religion or a country which is not even a focus.

The country has been going through a major economic crisis and has no energy and money left to fund any conspiracy against a bigger nation like India. While the people of India are insensitive to their situations we need to come forward as a neighbor  and help them we can get many other benefits if over Government and diplomate can think rationally and strategically.

Another movie Kerala story talks about the conversion and has the almost same storyline as the freelancer but she saved herself. But is it okay to tarnish the whole community on the basis of a few cases happening to our own fellow country people?

Bollywood evolution in the past decades

Bollywood has been a sensational and reflected source of ongoing things in the nation. Even the common neighbor of China has created too many problems for our country but there are really any movies with them as a villain Indian cinema has shown Pakistani Muslims in a bad light for ages while in reality the people are more vibrant and keep things better for both religions there.

During the 1950’s we can witness the fresh wave of romance and independence in the country through a person, while in 1970 the fight against corruption is shown in the cinema. Then I need cinema to be totally based on new cultural exploration where you can see shiny cars and liberal people dancing in the discos.

In all, this interpretation was correct according to the timeline of the country. The past 10 years have played a vicious role in spreading political head by focusing solely on Pakistan through the entertainment industry of Bollywood.
In the past Muslims were never a topic of concern for mega stars especially the stars like Dilip Kumar Meena Kumari, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan whenever just on the basis of their religion but why India is judging them and asking the test of loyalty every time?

Even when most of the celebrities are leaving India, they are still making patriotic movies. Isn’t it a double standard? Even if you look in the recent Pathan and Gadar2 movie both are based on the Indian army and anti-Pakistani issues. Pathan was a movie where they are saving Kashmir wearing no or short clothes and bikinis for dancing while Gadar 2 is claimed to be a romantic movie but it soon turned out into political nonsense where a truck driver is getting more focus than the Prime Minister itself.

Whenever a celebrity who is non-Hindu makes any statement against the wrong things happening in the country like separation, non-tolerance or fascism they are asked to “go back to Pakistan”. Why is freedom of speech curbing in India?

Verdict

When you look at the data these movies are not only made for Indians but are sold across the world when people of other countries especially Pakistani and the terrorist force watch them. These movies have passed on the wrong message of intolerance to a particular religion which can put India in danger.

We need to focus on Uniting nation with the genuine movies like The one in Jawaan where Shahrukh Khan asked about justice for the important issues of India. Instead of promoting hate, we need to show the vibrancy of both countries and make efforts to bring both closer than before.
