Major Cricket League (MLC) Season 2 San Francisco Unicorns won a crucial match against Seattle Orcas and moved one step forward towards playoffs and kept their hopes alive.
Matthew Short stood tall for San Francisco Unicorns
San Francisco Unicorns had a great start despite losing Jake Fraser McGurk very early. Finn Allen was in an aggressive mood and gave a brilliant start even though he also lost his wicket and some they stuck in middle of the game and wanted to get out of this. Matthew Short stood from one end and scored a great fifty and stabled the innings but wickets kept falling from the other end. But Sanjay Krishnamurthi made a valiant 30 runs which took the team to 165 runs.

Cameron Gannon shines for Seattle Orcas
Seattle Orcas had a great day with the ball so all plans were executed well and made on target so San Francisco Unicorns couldn’t make many runs onboard. All bowlers bowled well and picked wickets but Cameron Gannon shined more as he picked 3 wickets and contributed well enough to restrict the opposition team.

Shehan Jayasuriya’s knock went in vain
Seattle Orcas was in seventh heaven as they felt Target would be changeable but their overconfidence cost them badly. They started quite well as openers Ryan Rickelton and Shehan Jayasuriya were off to a flying start but Ryan Rickelton lost his wicket then no other batter could support from the other end and so the target looked even big, Shehan Jayasuriya was left alone though he scored a half-century but lost his wicket. In the end, Seattle Orcas lost the match by 23 runs. Their hopes for playoffs may also end if they don’t win the remaining matches.

Liam Plunkett made the day for San Francisco Unicorns
San Francisco Unicorns felt they were short by 15 runs but an excellent bowling performance proved that this was enough to defend. Bowlers came as survivors and took the match towards them. Liam Plunkett shined as he picked 3 wickets and was Man of the Match. Matthew Short, Pat Cummins, and Corey Anderson picked 1 wicket each. San Francisco Unicorns had a great day overall.
