Many senior players could play their last World Cups and would bid adieu to international cricket, especially the T20 format needs to garnish a new squad as Gautam Gambhir has a young squad in front of him and how plans will be executed will see in the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

Paras Mhambrey speaks about Ashwin and Shami

Under Rahul Dravid and the whole coaching staff India greatest team ever in the world in all departments its planning started way before when Ravi Shastri was handling the responsibility but as soon as Rahul Dravid took over the responsibility fielding was the one who improved a lot and it showed their potential in World Cup 2023 and even they changed their mindset in batting and so it worked which resulted into World Champions. Now many senior players could be seen in the ODI and Test formats because youngsters will take over in T20IS and senior players won’t be included but there are two players whose consideration is most important in Test format Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin, are the stalwarts of Indian Cricket in the modern era especially in test cricket.

India’s former bowling coach Paras Mhambrey was also a part of India’s World Cup-winning team he shaped the bowling of the Indian team and raised the stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, etc. While speaking to media Paras Mhambrey mentioned Shami and Ashwin’s future and how Gautam Gambhir will use them in test format because their presence has helped multiple times whether it’s home tests or away tests. Paras Mhambrey said:

“It’s important to have those discussions with Shami and Ashwin about their plans and then lay out a plan. When we decided to invest in youth, we made sure they were not alone in the park shouldering all responsibilities. Be it Arshdeep or Avesh, we made sure they were always bowling alongside senior bowlers,” said Mhambrey.

“You can’t put a timeline on that. You have to be patient with it. We started in 2015 and we had that pool by 2020. If you look at Arshdeep’s evolution, he played in the U-19 World Cup in 2018 and he was representing India in 2022 before really becoming an integral part in 2024. A young pace bowler takes four years to hit his peak. You can’t simply rush them through,” said Mhambrey.

It’s a new beginning of Indian Cricket and how Gautam Gambhir will take it forward will be seen in the upcoming India vs Sri Lanka series.
