India sealed the series against Sri Lanka and now aiming to whitewash the series, Surya Kumar Yadav won his second series under his captaincy and Gautam Gambhir also won his first series as head coach.

Indian batters kept their aggressive intent and showed that this will be the future of Indian cricket in T20Is. Every player gave a contribution however it was possible.

Tinu Yohannan speaks about Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson’s career has been confusing as he gets a chance to feature in the team sometimes he performs or else gets out early so his place is not confirmed and so he is been in and out past many series even though he was a part of T20 World Cup squad but didn’t play a single game and so his career is hanging in between. Against South Africa he made a century in the ODI series in South Africa, later Sanju Samson played in Zimbabwe series and performed well but now he has been sacked from the ODI squad and even got a single chance to perform in the T20i series against Sri Lanka but lost his wicket on golden duck, so he is still in the waiting list to confirm his seat in playing XI. Former Indian pacer Tinu Yohannan speaks about Sanju Samson, Tinu Yohannan said:

“He debuted about 10 years ago and after that, he has been (playing) on and off. He didn’t get a long run at any time. Each game is like a do-or-die game for him. Almost whenever he walks out to bat, he goes into pressure situations. He has to be given a long run somewhere down the line. He needs backing.”

“At Royals, he knows what his role is. He also knows it doesn’t matter if he fails. I know, in the Indian team it’s very difficult for him to get a long stretch of games, especially now that Rishabh (Pant) has come back. But then, he needs to be given a long run at some point in time.”

“He is not a guy who puts pressure on himself,” observed Yohannan. “He is someone who has a free mind. He is someone who excels when there are no strings attached, in an environment where he can express himself. He scored a century in his last ODI (against South Africa) and now he hasn’t been picked in the ODI squad. He has reached a point where he doesn’t think about it too much. He just goes game by game,” said Yohannan.

Sanju Samson has been struggling for many years despite performing well in IPL still his performance for India disappoints everyone. Will Sanju Samson continue to represent India or else the door for him will be closed forever?
