India collapsed in the second ODI against Sri Lanka as Jeffrey Vandersay’s 6-wicket haul made Sri Lanka take 1-0 in the series. After Rohit Sharma’s 60 runs innings, none of the batsmen could support him further, however, Axar Patel stood for some time but he too lost his wicket after scoring 44 runs.
Gautam Gambhir’s style didn’t work and so India lost the match many backlashes and trolling started over his working culture and not managing the players properly.
Basit Ali slams Indian team
India failed to chase the 241 runs in the second ODI as Jeffery Vandersay came out of the syllabus and dismantled the whole of India’s batting line-up despite this Rohit Sharma scored the second consecutive half-century but none of the batsmen could support him. Middle order’s batting positions were shifted and nothing went right for India and so Gautam Gambhir is being trolled for such reasons, however former Pakistan batter Basit Ali also commented on this issue without hesitating, Basit Ali said:
“I feel after Pakistan, India have also forgotten how to bat against the spinners. Maybe because the focus was more on T20s. I feel sad seeing Shivam Dube’s dismissal. He couldn’t even read it from the hand. Washington Sundar got out similarly in the first match.”
“Keep Shivam Dube only for T20s, don’t pick for the ODIs. Or, make him play 50-over matches in domestic cricket first. India’s ODI team cannot be complete without Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja.”
“Gautam Gambhir is using the wrong combination. If he wanted to use the left-right combo, Axar Patel could have come ahead and then Rishabh Pant could have played. Instead of Dube, play two wicketkeepers.”
“The first wicket fell on 97, that too when Rohit Sharma got out while playing the reverse sweep. Is Rohit Sharma the only batsman in the Indian team at present? Is there no other batsman? Shubman Gill as usual got out after 30-35 runs. Who is going to take the responsibility? Will we only see the names of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli? What are the other players doing?”
India will try to tie the series as there aim will be to win the final ODI match which will be played on August 7. Will we see some changes in the batting line-up or else India will continue with the same team?
