RCB vs RR: 205 Dreams, 194 Heartbeats – The Night The RCB Jinx Broke

The Match 42 of IPL 2025 saw the clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR)  at the  M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB‘s 11 run win over showcased that they an win at home even after losing a string of matches. Let’ have a look at the rollercoaster game

This stadium had experienced it all.

The heartbreaks. The unforgettable moments. The last over thrills,
The silence after a loss or the loudest cheer when the ball clears the stands and lands in Cubbon Park.

The  crowd came in full force, painting the stands red, chanting “RCB! RCB!” like a war cry.

The decibel meter was in danger – and so was the hope of a team still chasing their first win at home.

The Chinnaswamy pitch was its usual self – a batter’s dream on paper, but when the pressure rises, so does the drama.

RCB, despite their firepower, hadn’t cracked the home code this season.
RR, wounded from two close losses, were desperate to bounce back.
Both had something to prove.
Both were tired of being the team that almost got there.

The scene was set.
The tension was real.
And everyone watching asked the same question:
“Who would rise, and who would break?”

A Toss of Destiny: Riyan’s Call, RCB’s Bait

Two Royals met, a battle to face,
Rajat Patidar and Riyan Parag in the race.
Rajat flipped the coin, a hopeful spin,
But Riyan won, RR chose to bowl first to begin.

RCB’s squad had the experience to boast,
Virat Kohli’s calm, Tim David’s power at the most.
Rajat Patidar’s flair, Jitesh Sharma’s speed,
Romario Shepherd’s strength, all ready to lead.

Krunal Pandya’s spin, Bhuvneshwar’s swing,
Josh Hazlewood’s pace, ready to bring.
Yash Dayal and Suyash Sharma, both on the attack,
Devdutt Padikkal, his focus never off track.
And then there was Phil Salt, sharp as a dart,
RCB’s lineup, a team with heart.

RR’s lineup stood strong, ready to fight,
Jaiswal and Vaibav, their timing just right.
Rana and Parag, both steady and true,
Jurel and Hetmyer, chasing through and through.

Shubham Dubey’s power, Archer’s pace,
Hasaranga’s spin, ready to race.
Tushar Deshpande’s speed, Farooqi’s swing,
Sandeep Sharma, bringing everything.

Boundaries, Belief, and Bengaluru Boys: RCB’s Blazing 205

The game was set at Chinnaswamy, excitement in the air,
Phil Salt and Virat Kohli opened, ready to flare.
Jofra Archer, with pace and fire,
Targeting the wickets, setting the desire.

Kohli’s bat sang the first note, a boundary wide,
A classic shot, the crowd’s hearts in stride.
But Farooqi, executing well, struck next,
Salt was out, Riyan Parag’s hands flexed.

Yet, it wasn’t over, Salt was given a life,
Riyan dived hard, but couldn’t grip the knife.
Salt and Kohli built a fiery stand,
Boundaries and sixes, like a wave on the sand.

The ball flew all around, Chinnaswamy alive,
Virat’s timing perfect, the innings to thrive.
Then came Wanindu Hasaranga, the first breakthrough,
Salt’s high shot, Hetmyer took it, as the crowd flew.

Devdutt Padikkal entered, eyes on the prize,
His home ground, his stage, ready to rise.
He hit the ball all over, his timing sublime,
With Kohli’s guidance, they hit prime time.

Virat, after a slow start, now in full flow,
50 off 32, his bat’s magic on show.
Devdutt, after being dropped, was on fire,
Sixes raining down, taking the game higher.

His 50 came in just 24 balls, pure delight,
RCB knew it was his day, the stars shining bright.
But then Archer struck, Kohli caught by Rana,
Virat’s knock ended at 70 off 42, a class act, no drama.

Tim David now took over, setting his stance,
But Devdutt, hitting sixes, was in full dance.
Then came the juggled ball, out of Rana’s grip,
But it stayed tight, and Devdutt had to dip.

Sandeep Sharma came with a bang,
His impact resonated as the wickets rang.
Jitesh Sharma started with a boundary,
He was determined, to cross 200, no hurry.

RCB reached 205 for 5, a stunning score,
But RR was left wondering, what was in store?
The match was far from done, the tension so tight,
The fight was on, under the Chinnaswamy lights.

From 22 in One Over to 2 in 2 Balls: RR’s Rise and RCB’s Revival

206 to win – the target was set,
But the Royals came in with no regret.
Two young lads with fire in their eyes,
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi – ready to rise.

Facing them, the veteran Bhuvneshwar’s swing,
But Jaiswal stepped up – made the first ball sing.
A mighty six over long-on’s head,
And suddenly, the Chinnaswamy crowd went dead.

Yash Dayal bowled, but he too was struck,
Jaiswal was flying, Vaibhav had luck.
Bhuvi’s swing, RCB’s pace – none of it mattered,
As the boundaries came and hopes were shattered.

Hazlewood came in with rhythm and grace,
But even he couldn’t slow down this race.
Then came a moment, a shift in air ,
Vaibhav gone – Bhuvi’s reply, full of flair.

Riyan Parag walked in, full of fight,
But Bhuvi bowled out Rana – sheer delight!
Yet RR kept going, fours and sixes flew,
Even in this storm, RCB barely knew what to do.

Jaiswal kept firing — the powerplay roared,
Already past 70, the crowd was floored.
But Hazlewood held the line so tight,
A mistimed pull – Jaiswal out, under the light.

Caught at mid-wicket, Salt safe as ever,
And suddenly RCB looked much more clever.
The skipper stepped up, but so did the tide,
Riyan found his shots, and let them glide.

Boundaries again – Parag was fierce,
Every shot of his seemed to pierce.
But when all looked like slipping away,
RCB turned up, and Krunal made them pay.

Parag lofted -the ball went high,
Jitesh Sharma called it safe hands, no lie.
Then Jurel trapped, LBW shout!
But DRS said “Not out!” -what a bout.

Still, Krunal struck, as Rana came back,
And fell to Bhuvi -RCB on the attack!
Hetmyer stepped in, fireworks to bring,
But Josh Hazlewood clipped his wings.

Jitesh behind stumps, now ready to bat,
As Shubham Dubey entered with a big, bold hat.
Together with Jurel – a 40-run blast,
They were storming fast — way too fast!

Bhuvi’s 18th over – oh dear God above,
22 runs – the crowd lost their shove.
Every Ee Sala Cup Namdu fan was numb,
Goosebumps crawling, hearts had gone dumb.

206 looked small, now just 17 to win,
And 11 balls to go – the pressure kicked in.
Hazlewood came back, with fire in his soul,
And boy, he delivered – took full control.

The ball bounced -a shout went up!
Jurel reviewed  but the bat didn’t touch up.
He’s gone  47 off 34 – a brave, brave heart,
But RCB now had a restart.

Archer walked in  next ball, he’s out!
Caught in the air  the stadium shouts!
Two in two, Hazlewood’s spell,
RCB’s dugout began to yell.

Dayal for the last  just five balls left,
17 needed of all hope, RR bereft.
Then a loud call  they pushed for two,
But stumps hit caught Wanindu too!

194 for 9, that’s where it ends,
RCB finally broke the curse, my friends.
At home, at last, they stand so tall,
The Reds of Bengaluru answered the call.

Kohli with 70 — his 1st fifty of the year,
The crowd roared for their king with cheer.
Devdutt lit up his Chinnaswamy park,
Hazlewood’s fire? Left a mark!

Jitesh sharp with gloves and bat,
Krunal the calm, knew where to pat.
And with this win, came joy and cries,
Under the Bangalore sky, dreams did rise.

April 24th — remember the name,
When RCB finally owned the game.
Goosebumps on every fan that day,
“Ee Sala Cup Namdu” echoed in every way.
