Pat Cummins Side Has Been Treated Harshly – Tim Paine

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Tim Paine expressed his relief after Australia’s victory in Adelaide

“We spoke a couple of days ago about the pressure that was on them and the response that people were wanting to see. This is a harshly treated team at times, but they are one of the great teams,” Paine said.

Paine gave the hosts high marks for their outstanding response to pressure. He specifically cited players like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, who stepped up to the plate as the team’s senior players.

“The big boys stood up I thought particularly the captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc – the pink ball wizard, Travis Head was amazing and Marnus I thought was really pleasing,” he stated

Additionally, Paine characterized the last play of the first day as the pinnacle of Test cricket. Regarding Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne, Paine commended them for persevering as they did, saying:

“You’ve got one of our absolute champions who’s averaged 60 plus at times fighting to save his career and you’ve got a kid in his second Test trying to establish himself.”

Paine added that seeing good players fighting so desperately is a good thing to witness in professional sports

“For Marnus and Nathan McSweeney at different points of their career to be able to nail down get through … that just put Australia so far out in front of that Test match,” he said.

“They Have Won Everything But BGT” – Tim Paine

With three Tests remaining and the score tied at 1-1, the BGT 2024–25 series is in jeopardy. India will be eager to recover in Brisbane, while Australia will be happy with their performance in Adelaide and want to maintain the momentum.

From 2016 to 2023, India has won all four of the previous BGT series. Tim Paine said on the previously mentioned program that Australia would like to cross winning the BGT off their list of accomplishments.

“They have won everything but the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and they know that, they’ve spoken about that, this is the one they want to tick off,” he concluded.
