Also in the trade window Australians came out on Top especially when Royal Challengers Bangalore spend whopping 17.5 crores on Australian upcoming young talent and budding All rounder Cameron Green.
Hardly anyone in the cricketing world could speculate that one of the worlds richest league IPL would grab the eyeballs of the whole world within the few hours of the auction and will witness a new record set by Pat Cummins to get 20.50 crores from Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) to be broken within next few minutes of the hammer by his fellow Australian teammate Mitchell Starc who secured a whopping historic price of 24.75 crores from Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR).
Cameron Green’s performance for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2023 and IPL 2024 AND 2025
MI all-rounder Cameron Green has been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Green, who was bought for a whopping ₹17.5 crore at the auction last December, featured in 16 matches. The Australian had an impressive start to the IPL, hitting an unbeaten century and two half-centuries while also taking six wickets. Trade has been carried out as per the existing player fee.
This action coincides with the successful completion by the Mumbai Indians of another high-profile all-cash deal to acquire all-rounder Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans. Cameron Green’s quickfire 26-ball 44 in the iconic chase against Rajasthan Royals and his century in the final league game to carry MI into the playoffs will be his monumental performances in the IPL for MI.
“With Hardik Pandya drafted in ( ₹15 INR) and Green released ( ₹17.5 cr INR), the purse with Mumbai Indians going into the IPL 2024 Auction of was now 17.75cr INR,” as stated by the Mumbai Indian official
Cameron Green has scored 707 runs in 29 IPL matches across two seasons at an impressive average of 41.59. Green has also scalped 16 wickets in the lucrative tournament.
Until the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the most expensive buys at the auction used to be foreign all-rounders. Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Sam Curran, and Chris Morris broke the bank. They were the rarest commodity in cricket: all-rounders. Every franchise went crazy after them.
A particular pattern that emerged was that teams paid big in mini auctions. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) realised this as well and banned players from skipping the mega auction so that they don’t trick the system by making themselves available only when the chance of receiving bigger bids was higher.

Ex-India Cricketer Aakash Chopra Feels Former RCB Player Cameron Green Can Be the Costliest Buy of IPL 2026 Auction
Aakash Chopra predicts Australian and RCB all rounder Cameron Green to be the highest buy in IPL 2026
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that Australia all-rounder Cameron Green could become the costliest player at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction.
Cameron Green missed IPL 2025 because of a lower-back injury that required surgery and a six-month recovery period. He has previously played two seasons of IPL. While he represented Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2023, he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024.
The 26-year-old Cameron Green impressed recently in the shortest format, scoring an unbeaten 55 in the fourth T20I against West Indies, and then following it up with a 13-ball 35 against South Africa in the first T20I. But, because of his back injury, Cameron Green hasn’t bowled in any of his recent matches.
In the video shared on his Youtube channel Aakash Chopra , the former India opener reckoned that Cameron Green could be the most prized acquisition at the IPL 2026 Auction:
“Cameron Green, I feel he could be the most expensive player in the auction. Since he has returned from injury, his batting form is already incredible. He is not yet ready to bowl, but will start bowling at some stage. He is batting in the top order at the moment because he is not bowling,” Chopra said
“If he starts bowling and considering the batting ability he has, he could actually break the bank. People will spend a lot of money on him. That’s what I feel. So this auction could be in Cameron Green’s name,” he added.
In IPL 2023, the Western Australia player played 16 matches for Mumbai Indians (MI), and had a productive season. He scored 452 runs from 16 matches at a strike-rate of 160.28, scoring two fifties and one century, whereas with the ball, he took six wickets at an economy rate of 9.50.
In IPL 2024, he played 13 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and scored 255 runs at a strike-rate of 143.25. Compared to IPL 2023, Green had a better outing with the ball in IPL 2024, picking up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 8.61. In IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians had a list of promising players in Tim David, Tristan Stubbs, Cameron Green and Dewald Brevis. However, all four of them are now in different franchises. Aakash Chopra felt that the Mumbai Indians team management could have been better.
“The Mumbai Indians figure out everyone before time. I am going to take four names, who they had, but they let them go. So could the overseas player management have been better? They had Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Tim David and Cameron Green, and all in one year. These four players were together with them in the squad, and now not even one is there,” he said
Cameron Green was traded from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of IPL 2024.
