Deepak Chahar, who has been the part of the Chennai Super Kings since 2018, played only eight matches last season and got unavailable due to groin injury after that. He is very optimistic that CSK will look to get him back as they did in the auction IPL 2022. Deepak Chahar is also a handy batter lower down the order.
The right-arm pacer has been valuable member of the squad and whenever he is fit, he plays but in recent years he rarely plays all the matches in a season due to his injuries. It should be noted that he missed the entire season in 2022 after getting picked in IPL auction for hopping 14 crore by CSK due to injury.
I think CSK will bid for me again, says Deepak Chahar
During a conversation with The Times of India, the former Chennai Super Kings pacer shared his feelings about wearing the yellow jersey again in the upcoming season. Deepak Chahar pointed out that he can play a key role in restricting the batters from getting a big total.
“I was not retained by them in the last mega auction as well. But they went all out for me and bought me back. I don’t know what will happen this year, but I know my skill will be valued more now given the fact that around 90-100 runs are being scored in the Powerplay and that’s why the teams are scoring more than 200 more frequently. I have proved how valuable I can be in limiting runs in that phase of the game,” he said.
He also expressed his desire to be a part of Rajasthan Royals (RR), if not CSK as he plays for the Rajasthan state team in the Ranji Trophy. He is a key member of the Ranji squad for his state team as he is very good in both department of batting and bowling.
“I think they will bid for me again. I would like to don the yellow jersey again and if not that, then I would want Rajasthan Royals to bid for me,” Deepak Chahar added.
Chennai Super Kings have made their official retention ahead of the mega auction of IPL 2025. They have retained four capped player – Rituraj Gaikwad (18 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (13 crore), Shivam Dube (12 crore) and along with that they have retained their former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (4 crore) as their uncapped player.
Deapak Chahar has been a key member of the CSK
Deepak Chahar made his debut with the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG) in IPL 2016 and played five matches over two seasons before coming to the CSK in IPL 2018. He has played a total of 8 matches and claimed 77 wickets.
He is also been the part of three title-winning squads in 2018,2021 and 2023 led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He will be eager to return in yellow jersey and mark his presence in IPL 2025 under the cataincy of Rituraj Gaikwad.
Chennai Super Kings will be looking to get him back at any cost as he has been their key member after their return in 2018 to IPL after facing two-years of ban. The 32-years old pacer is very effective in power play with the new ball and also played some crucial innings with the bat also when needed. He can be a perfect match for any team in lower order as he knows how to bat and score runs in crucial times.
