New Zealand scripted history on October 25, when they won the second Test in Pune by 113 runs. Winning a Test series in India was a dream for any visiting side in last 12 years, with this loss the unbreakable streak of 18 series comes to an end. New Zealand had already won the first Test in Bengaluru by eight wickets.

Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri backs Men in Blue for the third Test, which will begin on November 1 in Mumbai. He asserted that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will not take this series defeat lightly and he will comeback stronger.

Rohit Sharma faced a lot criticism from experts and fans after India went down by New Zealand in the three-match Test series with 0-2. Many of them have also questioned about his Test captaincy and his current Red-ball form.

Ravi Shastri backs Rohit Sharma for the Mumbai Test

Ravi Shastri supported the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and also said that he is not going to take this loss lightly during commentary.

“Rohit Sharma is a proud man. He will not take it lightly. Let me assure you of that. His body language might suggest that he’s very relaxed. But deep down, he’ll be hurting and hurting big. Not just with him but with every Indian player in that dressing room,” said Ravi Shastri.

Rohit Sharma has scored only 62 runs so far in the series with only one half century. His performance with the bat was not quite promisiong during Bangladesh series as well. After this three match series at home, he is all set to lead India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Indian skipper faced a lot of criticism

After the series loss in Pune, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that losing a Test series in 12 years is allowed as we have won many in last 18 series that we have played at home. He faced a lot of criticism after this comment.

“Just because we have lost a series, I don’t think there is anything that we need to talk differently or do differently. But yeah, we need to find ways to come out of those situations,” Rohit had said after the match

There are many quiestions to be answered as things haven’t gone well in this series for both Team India and his captain. With a big Test series coming up in Australia, both Rohit and his team will be looking to gain some momentum in Mumbai Test. They all are looking to finish the series on high as senior players want to be back in the form before the high voltage series.
