In the result of India’s recent Test series against New Zealand, tons of controversy has fixated on the staging on the Indian team’s spin bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. This series has escalated audit on their benefaction, given the high presupposition that often tag along their names. With the consequences falling short of fans’ expectations, many interrogated whether Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin had performed to their full capability, or if their habitual knock was lacking.
India now will have to regroup very quickly for 3rd Test match which is set to start from 1st November at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai which is also expected to be a rank turner. The Wankhede surface though has sharp turn which can make life harder for batters. KL Rahul was dropped from 2nd Test match but Sarfaraz Khan coulnd’t make a significant score as we can expect some tactical changes.
It’s not only the responsibility of Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja to get Test wins- Rohit Sharma
Indian captain Rohit Sharma came forward, barricading his bowlers and putting a notion that replicated with cricket fans. Rohit Sharma conveyed that depending only on these two players to flip the game in India’s court is not just impractical but inequitable, emphasizing that cricket, particularly in the test format, is a team game. His expression call attention to the compulsion these bowlers go through, mainly when they are often called upon as predominant wicket takers who can pull off favorable results for the team.
“They know (about) that. There’s too much expectation on those two guys. Every game they play, they are expected to take wickets, run through the (opposition) team and win Test matches for us. I don’t think that is fair,” said Rohit Sharma.
“It’s the responsibility of all of us to make sure that we get the Test wins, not just the two guys. Of course, by their standards, they know where they stand and what they haven’t been able to do or what they have done really well,” he added
Rohit Sharma further concedes the important role Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have depicted in India’s historic run of 18 successive Test series triumph on home soil. He emphasizes their meaningful endowment to this record, which came to halt with Saturday’s loss to New Zealand.
“I’m not going to look into (it) too much, especially with those two guys. They know exactly what happens and sometimes they are allowed to have some bad games here and there and not go by that expectation that ‘okay, this is the opportunity for me to take wickets and run through the opposition’. That’s not going to happen every time,” the 37-year-old said
Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja Integral Part of side
Ravichanran Ashwin, with overall 380 wickets in home matches and a sum of 533 Test redundancy, ranks as the peak bowlers worldwide, he’s also acclaimed as being the quickest to 350 wickets in just 66 matches. Jadeja harmonize with Ashwin well, performing as a well founded all rounder with 228 home Test wickets and an amazing batting average, putting himself as a chief contributor to India’s achievements.
The management will have to take a bold call as whether they can play both Ashwin & Jadeja in Australia Tests given the fact that Australian pitches aren’t that spin friendly. There are high chances though that they can bolster the batting line up by their presence as they have the knack of playing effective knocks with the tail-enders.
