Australia put in an all-round batting display to post 180+ on the board on a used surface. There were cameos from various players with Marcus Stoinis leading the way with 45 runs off 29 balls. Others did their bit. Ireland bowled well as well with Mark Adair picked up 2 wickets while others chipped in and kept it relatively tight. This game is more Australia’s than Ireland’s at the moment.
Australia gets off to fast start despite losing a couple of wickets in powerplay.Â
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Travis Head the captain came out to bat with Josh Inglis while Matthew Humphreys came out to bowl for Ireland. Head hit a boundary through backward point region. Mark Adair came onto the attack as Travis Head fell to a run out for 6 off 7 balls with one boundary to his name. Cameron Green came out to bat next. Inglis punched it away to deep point region for a boundary.
Humphreys continued as Inglis took the attack to him by hitting him for hat-trick of boundaries through backward point and then through short fine leg and the third one through short third man. Barry McCarthy came into the attack next. Green bashed it over mid-off for a boundary. Green heaved it away for the maximum over square leg.
Inglis took on Adair pulling it over deep square leg for the maximum. Green hit Adair for the maximum as he went over deep square leg into the stands. But Adair hit back as he got rid of Green for 21 off 11 balls with one four and two sixes to his name as the midwicket fielder took the catch. Matt Renshaw came onto bat next. Gareth Delany came to bowl the final over of powerplay as Inglis went inside out over covers for a boundary.
At the end of the powerplay, Australia were 64/2 in 6 overs with Inglis unbeaten on 33 off 15 balls and Renshaw unbeaten on 2 off 3 balls. Drinks came onto the field at this stage.
Ireland chip away at the wickets in the middle phase of the game.Â
George Dockrell came into the attack post the powerplay. Inglis split the field as he pulled it in front of square for a boundary. Dockrell came back and got rid of Inglis for 37 off 17 balls with 6 fours and one six to his name. Stirling took the catch and went off the field. Glenn Maxwell came to the crease next. Harry Tector came into the attack next. He bowled a decent first over.
Dockrell continued as Maxwell punished him by pulling it to deep square leg for a boundary. Tector continued and got rid of Maxwell for 9 off 9 balls with one boundary to his name as the keeper Lorcan Tucker managed to show great reflexes to take the catch. Marcus Stoinis came out to bat next and got off the mark. Australia were 90/4 in 10 overs.
George Dockrell continued and bowled a decent over. Tector continued as the 100 came up for Australia in 11.3 overs. Stoinis crunched him away by slicing it away to backward point region for a boundary. Stoinis punished Tector as he swivelled pulled it away to deep backward square leg for a boundary. Matthew Humphreys returned to the attack. He too bowled a decent over.
Gareth Delany came back into the attack. He too kept things under check as Australia were 120/4 in 14 overs when we paused for the second Drinks Break of the innings. George Dockrell bowled his final over after the break as Renshaw crunched him through the covers for a boundary. Australia reached 129/4 in 15 overs with Renshaw unbeaten on 29 off 29 balls while Marcus Stoinis was unbeaten on 23 off 17 balls. Australia had the platform to get to a competitive total from here.

Barry McCarthy came back into the attack as the 50-run stand came up between the two players. Renshaw pumped the ball over the bowler’s head for a boundary. Matthew Humphreys came back for his final over. He knocked over Renshaw for 37 off 33 balls with 2 fours to his name. Cooper Connolly came out to bat next. Gareth Delany dropped Stoinis off Mark Adair’s bowling.
The 150 came up for Australia in 17.2 overs. Stoinis smashed a maximum by pulling it over deep square leg for the maximum. Adair struck for his side as he dismissed Stoinis for 45 off 29 balls with 2 fours and one six to his name as Calitz took a good catch as well. Xavier Bartlett came to the middle next. McCarthy bowled the 19th over as Bartlett managed to get a boundary down the ground to long-off.
Mark Adair came to bowl the last over over of the innings as Connolly heaved the high full toss away over deep midwicket for the maximum. Bartlett got a thick inside edge past the stumps and away to the fence. Australia ended with 182/6 in 20 overs which is their highest score against Ireland in T20IS. Connolly was unbeaten on 11 off 8 balls with one maximum to his name while Bartlett was unbeaten on 11 off 6 balls with 2 fours to his name. 5 extras given by the fielding side.

Australia have got the runs on the board on a used surface. 182 looks a huge score on the board and Ireland will have to bat out of their skins on a used surface to win the game, Advantage Australia even with a depleted attack or weakened bowling attack one has to say that.
