With 19 wickets, Prasidh Krishna has already matched his best tally in an IPL season. This year, it’s taken him just ten matches to match his entire haul for 2022. No surprise that the Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler feels this is his best IPL campaign yet. After taking IPL 2025 by storm, Gujarat Titans pacer Prasidh Krishna is now gearing up for India’s demanding red-ball tour of England. With the control he displayed throughout the tournament, he has positioned himself as one of India’s most promising pace options.
Gujarat Titans star pacer Prasidh Krishna, who had an impressive spell of two for 19 from four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday night, thought his control over the length had been good and all the work that they had been putting in as a team and everybody around has been supportive enough for him to get to where he is now.
Prasidh Krishna’s crucial wickets help GT beat SRH by 38 runs as he climbs upto the Purple Cap leaderboard
The Prasidh Krishna we’re seeing in IPL 2025 isn’t just improved — he’s been completely reinvented. Representing Gujarat Titans this season, the 29-year-old pacer has quickly emerged as one of the most consistent and impactful bowlers in the league.
Picked for INR 9.50 crore at the mega-auction, Prasidh Krishna has repaid Gujarat’s faith by stepping up when it matters most. With 19 wickets in ten matches at an economy rate of 7.29, he’s been mixing up his pace beautifully. After missing the last two editions due to injury, his return has been seamless, and Gujarat Titans are reaping the rewards.
Prasidh Krishna conceded a single four and bowled 10 dot balls in his 4-over spell (ER: 4.80). He has 19 wickets this season at 15.36. He went ahead of Josh Hazlewood of RCB (18 scalps) to reclaim the Purple Cap. As per ESPNCricinfo, Prasidh Krishna now owns 100 scalps in T20s. Playing his 92nd match, he averages 28.77. 68 of his wickets have come in IPL.
Prasidh Krishna has formed a formidable partnership with fellow pacers Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma, making their pace attack one of the most dangerous in the competition. In Gujarat’s 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Prasidh Krishna produced another clinical performance, taking 2/19 in four overs. Known for his hard lengths and variations, he kept it simple on a low-bounce surface — no slower balls, no tricks — just high-release deliveries, making life uncomfortable for the opposition.
Prasidh Krishna 2.0 shares his views on his bowling after swinging success in IPL 2025
In the post-match briefing after Titans drubbed Sunrisers, Prasidh Krishna said his preparation would start firstly by getting control over what he wanted to do, get back into the practice, get back to the nets, do exactly what he would against somebody that he would be facing in a particular game and then from there, get on game day, look at what the pitch would be like
“If you’re bowling second, make sure you watch every single ball of the 20 overs somebody else bowls, take all that you can from them. And, I have a lot of people around me that have played a tremendous amount of cricket. So just have a chat with them, try and make sure you hit the right areas and take it from there,” said Prasidh who took 19 wickets from 10 games this season.
Against SRH, Prasidh Krishna returned 2 for 19 from his four overs, while the best economy rate among other bowlers, who bowled two overs or more, was 8.25 [Mohammed Siraj]. He has, in fact, been economical all along, going at 7.48 so far, his best in a season.
“I would say so. My control over my lengths has been good,” Prasidh said after the match.
“All the work we’ve put in as a team, and the support from everyone around me, has been fantastic. I’m enjoying how the ball is coming out.”
That sense of rhythm and joy has been pivotal in his transformation. While the IPL isn’t typically known for helping fast bowlers build Test credentials, Prasidh Krishna is proving otherwise, offering both discipline and adaptability in abundance. Prasidh Krishna 2.0 — sharper, smarter, and more dangerous — is ready for India’s Test tour of England. The pacer, who played in the Sydney Test against Australia earlier this year, credited his success to conversations with Gujarat Titans’ head coach Ashish Nehra ahead of IPL 2025.
For years, India has searched for a bowler who can consistently exceed 140 kph, adapt across formats, and challenge batters with both pace and precision. Prasidh Krishna has always shown glimpses of that potential, but injuries and inconsistency held him back. Now, in 2025, he’s turning that potential into performance. And this time, it feels like he’s here to stay.
