West Indies toured England for 3 match test series as England have dominated over West Indies and took a 2-0 lead, West Indies played quite well in the second test compared to the first test. England sealed the series and have outshined well in their home season till now.
West Indies was wrapped out on Day 3 in the first test, and in the second test they were dismantled on 143 while chasing the 385 target set by England.
Ian Bishop advises the West Indies
After a huge loss in the second test West Indies also lost the test series but plenty of positives were seen during this but that’s not enough while playing test cricket. All boxes should be ticked in this format and players should give their more than 100% because this won’t give you a second chance to gear up. Former West Indies player Ian Bishop advises the West Indies team to move on and focus on the next match as it’s also important compared to first two tests, Ian Bishop said:
“If the guys could hear me now, they have to pick themselves up. I know it is hard and know there maybe a lot of the mental energy was drained by their application with the bat in that first innings, magnificent score, and the sort of capitulation in that 2nd innings. But Edgbaston is important to continue learning.”
After playing in England West Indies will head to South Africa for two match test series however he also mentioned that while heading to South Africa they should have the same confidence that they had before coming to England, Ian Bishop said:
“The Richards-Botham Trophy goes to England, but then there’s the South Africa series on the back end. So you 1 to 1 know, you represent the people of the West Indies in every game. You play with pride and that should be enough. And that should be enough to energize you.
“If that’s not enough, you’re coming up against South Africa less than a week or about a week later on and you want to go there with confidence. So, there’s still a lot to play for, for a team that’s still learning.”
West Indies should learn from there mistakes and play with great confidence which they are lacking in this series.
