South Africa has been bolstered with the return of Marco Jansen for England’s white ball leg tour. Marco Jansen missed the recently concluded Australia T20I & ODI series due to an injury. Marco Jansen has the knack of smashing lusty blows during the death overs stage & also his variations are quite hard to pick.
South Africa are all set to play 3 ODIs & 3 T20Is commencing from 2nd September against a sturdy England side. The visitors would be thoroughly tested as England in this summer has been quite invincible & a force to reckon with. The way England thrashed West Indies in both ODIs & T20Is was quite instrumental.
It’s great to have Marco Jansen back- Shukri Conrad
Shukri Conrad was having an interaction with the media. South Africa’s head coach pointed out that Marco Jansen is someone who balances the side. Shukri Conrad stated that Marco Jansen is very much lethal with the new ball in hand as well as during the death overs stage.
“We’ll reassess Kagiso in England. We are hopeful that he will be available for part of the ODI series, but we’re prioritizing T20I cricket and will take a conservative approach. We won’t rush him back. “We will also continue to manage Temba’s workload during the ODI series in the same way we did in the ongoing series against Australia.
“It’s great to have Marco back. He’s a fantastic all-format player who balances our side, he bowls up front and at the death, and hits the ball a long way. The plan was always to ease him and Lizaad back into international cricket through the shortest format. “David’s return for the T20Is adds another dimension to our lineup, and he is eager to get going.
Donovan Ferreira can be destructive at end of an innings- Shukri Conrad
Shukri Conrad was quite optimistic regarding the form of Donovan Ferreira. Shukri Conrad stated that the left arm off-spinner Keshav Maharaj was always in their scheme of things in the T20I format. Shukri Conrad pointed out that Keshav Maharak is a part of the leadership group.
“Donovan has done particularly well in the leagues he’s played in. We know how destructive he can be at the end of an innings, and with his experience in The Hundred and playing in English conditions, it’s the perfect time for him to rejoin the national squad.
“We were experimenting with the spinning all-rounders in our most recent T20I series, and Keshav was always part of our broader plans. His return to the squad strengthens our spin options. Beyond his obvious skill with the ball, he brings calmness and leadership to the group,”

Fascinating Series on Cards
With only 6-7 months left for the marquee ICC T20 WC 2026, both teams, England & South Africa, would be keen to get their combinations right. Undoubtedly, the conditions for ICC T20 WC 2026, which is in India & Sri Lanka are completely alien, but having a winning mindset can do wonders for a team going into the tournament.
South Africa recently won the ODI series against Australia by 2-1 but failed to win the T20I series as Glenn Maxwell played a helluva of a knock in the decider. South Africa suffered a heart-wrenching defeat in the Zimbabwe T20I Tri Series against New Zealand. It won’t be wrong to say that the Proteas are cruising, but still they have a lot to ponder to win a white ball ICC tournament.
