Recently, the former Australian cricketer David Warner shocked the World Cricket by making himself available to play for Australia again. He expressed his desire to come out of retirement ahead of the Border-Gavasakar Trophy 2024-25.

Former Asutralian Test cricketer Greg Blewett has slammed Warner over wanting to come out of retirement by referring him as ‘self-absorbed’ over his statement. The former dynamic opener retired from international cricket in June after their T20 World Cup 2024 game against India in June this year.

Never heard so much garbage in my life: Blewett

In a recent conversation on Tripe M Adelaide’s Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey and Jars, Blewett spoke about this incident and pointed it as garbage.

“I honestly never heard so much garbage in my life. It’s self-absorbed and the guys getting around him work for the same company he’s going to commentate for this summer. They’re saying Australia don’t know what they’ve missed out on, or how lucky we’ve had with David Warner, and we didn’t respect him enough,” he said.

David Warner made his debut way back in 2011, he finished with 8786 runs at 44.59 with 26 centuries alongside a best of 335 not out against Pakistan in his 112 Test appearances for Australia.

“It’s not like he was making run after run” – Blewett on Warner

The 52-year-old went on to mark David Warner an average cricketer. He also spoke about the need of the hour that is the requirement of youngsters in the national side.

“He was just average, now he’s putting his hand up saying ‘I wanna be the saviour’?. Let someone else have a go. Young Sam Konstas is going to be very, very good if they give him the opportunity. Josh Inglis might get an opportunity. Nathan McSweeney might get a job as well. It’s not like he was making run after run after run, and we get him back into the side and it’ll just fill a gap for this summer,” he said in the same interview.

The highly-anticipated Test series between Australia and India will take off on November 22 in Perth as both teams will be looking to consodiate their position in World Test Championship final, which is scheduled to be happend in England next year. India will be eager to take on Asutralia as they have just lost a series at home against New Zealand that somehow made their calculation tricky.
