BAN vs IRE: Bangladesh Level Series With Thrilling Win

Hosts Bangladesh roared back all guns blazing and snapped a 4-match losing streak to win the contest by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Bangladesh lost the toss but did well to hang in there and pip Ireland at the finish line. Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first and through an all-round batting effort they reached a competitive 170/6 in 20 overs with Mahedi Hasan starring for Bangladesh with 3/25.

In the chase of 171 to level the series, Bangladesh rode on their captain Litton Das’ half-century and a useful 43 off 28 balls at the top from Parvez Hossain Emon and other valuable contributions to get to the target in 19.4 overs and 4 wickets in hand. Mark Adair and Gareth Delany picked up 2 wickets apiece with Delany being the pick of the bowlers. The series is now well set at 1-1.

Mahedi Hasan’s 3/25 limits Ireland to 170/6

Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Paul Stirling the captain and Tim Heatley Tector came out to open for Ireland while Mahedi Hasan started proceedings for Bangladesh. Both the openers got Ireland off to a rollicking start as they scored 28/0 in 2.1 overs when play was stopped due to tower failure and it was resumed about 10-15 minutes later. The duo took Bangladesh bowlers to the cleaners with Stirling being the aggressor.

Ireland put on 57 for the first wicket in 4.4 overs before captain Paul Stirling fell for 29 off 14 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes to his name. This wicket put the breaks on the scoring as Harry Tector came out to bat next. Harry struggled for his innings today and made 11 off 11 balls. The two Tectors put on 31 for the second wicket before Tim fell to Mahedi Hasan Hasan for 38 off 25 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to his name. Lorcan Tucker came out to bat next. In the same over, Harry Tector fell for 11 off 11 balls as Mahedi had two wickets in the over.

Benjamin Calitz is the new batter in now. Calitz joined Tucker in the middle as they passed the halfway mark without losing wicket. Calitz fell for 7 off 9 balls with one four to his name as Mahedi got a wicket. Ireland were 103/4 in 11 overs. George Dockrell joined Lorcan Tucker in the middle with bat in hand. The duo complimented each other really well and built a solid stand to take the innings forward. They continued this method till Dockrell was dismissed for 18 off 21 balls a struggling innings at that with one four to his name. Saifuddin took his wicket. This wicket fell in 18.2 overs. Gareth Delany joined the middle.

Tucker and Delany showed application with Tucker scoring 41 off 32 balls with 4 fours to his name. He was the last man to be dismissed as Delany remained unbeaten on 10 off 8 balls with a boundary to his name. Tucker was the last man out via a run-out for 41 off 32 balls with 4 fours to his name. Ireland finished with a competitive 170/6 in 20 overs. Ireland started well in powerplay as they reached at around 75/1 in 6 overs. The middle overs was a struggle for the Irish and Bangladesh continued with good bowling options before the Death problems and got success.

Mahedi Hasan has been the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh in 3/25 in 4 overs. He was ably supported by Tanzim Hasan Sakib and he bowled 3 overs for 17 runs and picked up a wicket. Mohammad Saifuddin picked up 1/40 in 4 overs. Mustafizur Rahman has figures of 0/39 in 4 overs. Saif Hassan bowled well without much luck as he gave away 7 runs in his opening over. The target for Bangladesh was 171 runs to win and level the series 1-1.

Litton Das’ brilliant unbeaten fifty takes Bangladesh over the line by 4 wickets in a tense chase

Chasing 171 to win and level the series, Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan came out to bat for Bangladesh. Matthew Humphreys had ball in hand for the Irish. Emon was the aggressor of the two. Tanzid fell for 7 off 10 balls with one boundary to his name. He was sold down the river and was run out. Captain Litton Das came out to bat next.

Both Litton and Emon had a roaring day with bat in hand and put on 60 runs for the second wicket and looked untroubled out in the middle. They took the score from 26/1 to 86/1 when Emon fell for 43 off 28 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes to his name. Saif Hassan walked out to the middle but Litton slowly built his innings well and beyond reach of the others. Saif and Litton drove home the advantage and broke the shackles. He scored a half-century and scored 57 off 27 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes to his name.

It was a good stand between Litton and Saif Hassan as they put the pressure back on the Ireland team. The captain completed his fifty and then got out for 57 off 37 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Towhid Hridoy came out to bat today. He scored only 6 off 9 balls. Nurul Hasan made 5 off 7 balls. Saifuddin scored 17 off 7 balls and gave the required momentum needed for the team.

Bangladesh did lose three wickets in the middle phase with Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy and Nurul Hasan falling and the team getting into a whole muddle. But they held their nerves in the end and Saifuddin became a hero from zero. Mahedi Hasan scored unbeaten 6 off 3 balls with a boundary to his name as Bangladesh got to the target in the final over with 2 balls to spare to level the series. 11 extras given by the fielding side.

It was a tough outing for the Irish bowlers. Gareth Delany picked up 2/28 in 4 overs while Mark Adair picked up 2/36 in 4 overs while the rest went wicketless. Matthew Humphreys went for 38 runs in 4 overs while Barry McCarthy gave 27 runs in 4 overs. Joshua Little had a bad day in the office as he went for 39 in 3.4 overs. So, Bangladesh win by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Litton Das the Bangladesh captain was adjudged the Player of the Match.

So, the series is level now at 1-1 with one game to play. The decider takes place on Tuesday December 2nd 2025 at 5:30 PM IST live from Chattogram.
