AUS vs PAK: Ellyse Perry & Co Hammer Pakistan By 113-Run Win

Australia continued their dominant run in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with a crushing 113-run victory over Pakistan. After being asked to bat, Australia recovered from a nightmare start to post an imposing 199/7 in 20 overs before bowling Pakistan out for just 86 in 13.4 overs. The contest featured a match-defining century partnership, disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and relentless pressure that left Pakistan with no way back into the game.

Ellyse Perry & Georgia Voll’s Century Stand Turns the Match in Australia’s Favour

Pakistan could not have asked for a better start when Sadia Iqbal dismissed Beth Mooney on the very first ball of the innings. However, that success proved to be Australia’s only setback for a long period. Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry rebuilt the innings brilliantly, adding a game-changing 100-run partnership for the second wicket. Voll attacked from the outset, scoring 39 from 28 balls with seven fours, while Perry anchored the innings with remarkable control and timing.

The partnership took Australia from early trouble to a commanding position and completely shifted the momentum. Voll eventually fell to Nashra Sandhu in the 10th over, and Sandhu struck two balls again later to remove Ashleigh Gardner for a duck. At 100/3, Pakistan briefly sensed an opening, but Perry ensured Australia remained on top.

Ellyse Perry then shared a valuable 44-run stand with Annabel Sutherland, who contributed a quick 27 from 18 deliveries. Even after Ellyse Perry departed in the 18th over for a magnificent 71 off 48 balls, Nicola Carey kept the pressure on with an unbeaten 26 from just 13 balls. Australia’s finishing burst added crucial late runs, helping the team score 48 runs in the final four overs and reach 199/7.

Pakistan’s bowlers picked up wickets at intervals, with Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, and Rameen Shamim claiming two wickets each. However, a few misfields and the inability to break the Perry-Voll partnership earlier allowed Australia to build a total that was always going to be difficult to chase.

Australia’s Bowlers and Fielders Trigger Pakistan’s Collapse

Pakistan’s chase never gained momentum. The first major setback arrived in the second over when Gull Feroza was run out by a sharp piece of fielding from Georgia Voll. Sophie Molineux then removed Sidra Jabeen in the third over, and another run-out accounted for Aliya Riaz shortly afterward.

Although Muneeba Ali fought back with a spirited 32 from 25 balls and Iram Javed struck a quick 14 from 9 deliveries, Australia’s bowlers kept taking wickets at crucial moments. Georgia Wareham dismissed Iram Javed in the seventh over, reducing Pakistan to 50/4. The biggest turning point of the chase came in the 10th over when Ellyse Perry removed the well-set Muneeba Ali. Pakistan’s hopes of a competitive finish disappeared immediately after that wicket.

From 65/4, Pakistan collapsed dramatically to 75/8 within a span of just nine deliveries. Perry struck again, Molineux continued her control through the middle overs, and Australia’s fielders converted every opportunity. There were no significant dropped catches from Australia, while their pressure in the field directly created two run-outs that accelerated Pakistan’s downfall.

Sophie Molineux finished with 2 wickets for just 6 runs, Georgia Wareham delivered an outstanding spell of 1 for 2, while Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland claimed two wickets each. Pakistan eventually lost their last six wickets for only 21 runs and were bowled out for 86 in 13.4 overs.

The defining moment of the match was undoubtedly the 100-run partnership in 56 balls between Ellyse Perry and Georgia Voll. That stand rescued Australia after the first-ball wicket and laid the foundation for a massive total. Combined with Australia’s exceptional fielding and disciplined bowling effort, it resulted in one of the most comprehensive victories of the tournament.
