RR vs RCB: Rajat Patidar’s Belligerent Knock Helps RCB Post A Terrific Target

RCB managed to put a staggering score of 201-8 after being asked to bat first by RR. Rajat Patidar played a captain’s knock of 63 runs in 40 balls as he single-handedly helped the side from a drastic collapse. Despite the rain interrupting the match, no overs were lost in the match.

RCB go all berserk but lose 3 wickets

Jofra Archer’s sheer pace took Phil Salt by surprise on the very first ball as he gave a catch to wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel. RCB, though, was very much unaffected by Salt’s dismissal. Virat Kohli & Devdutt Padikkal’s all-out attack approach was proving to be effective as RCB scored 32-1 in 2 overs.

There was a brilliant exhibition of fast bowling & batting; in the 3rd over, Jofra’s thunderbolts were easily dismantled by Virat. Virat Kohli used the raw pace of Jofra & guided deliveries behind the wicket and cover drive shot as well, he hit Jofra for 3 fours in 4 balls; the lethal speedster was relieved after dismissing Padikkal (14), RCB’s score at that time was 45-2 in 3 overs.

The introduction of Ravi Bishnoi in the 5th over proved to be interesting again. Rajat Patidar & Virat Kohli weren’t able to clear the fence. Virat Kohli was deceived by a wrong-un in the 5th ball & was bowled. Virat was dismissed on 32 runs in 16 balls. RCB had an entertaining power play, but they lost 3 wickets for 61 runs.

RR continues to chip in wickets in the middle overs

The promotion of Krunal Pandya to the no.5 position wasn’t fruitful for RCB. Ravi Bishnoi duped Krunal Pandya (1) as he gave a catch at long off, RCB’s score 62-4 in 6.2 overs. It was quite surprising to see that RCB batters were in a hurry to dictate the terms. The next one to depart from RCB was Jitesh Sharma, as half of the side was dismissed under 9 overs.

The wickets continued to tumble as even Tim David (13 in 9)’s lack of patience cost him his wicket. RCB was in a spot of bother at 94-6 in 11 overs. Rajat Patidar was seeing batters fall from the other end. Romario Shepherd, along with Rajat Patidar, continued stitched 31 runs partnership in 18 balls. RCB’s score was 125-7 in 14 overs.

Rajat Patidar & Venkatesh Iyer finish on a high note

Venkatesh Iyer came into the playing 11 as an impact player sub as a replacement for Devdutt Padikkal. In the 17th over post-strategic time out, Rajat Patidar unleashed an attack on Bishnoi and pumelled him for 2 back-to-back massive sixes; due to Venkatesh Iyer’s presence, Rajat Patidar got the confidence boost. RCB’s score at 17 overs was 166-7. Patidar was short-lived, though, who was swindled by Sandeep Sharma in the 18th over, as Rajat was dismissed on 63 runs in 40 balls and hit 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Sandeep Sharma, in his 4th over, was smashed all around the park by Venkatesh Iyer (29 runs in 15 balls) as RCB scored 21 runs in that over. RCB managed to put a mammoth score of 201-8 in 20 overs. RR’s bowlers had a mixed outing, who were taken to cleaners as well as were amongst the wickets. Ravi Bishnoi, Jofra Archer & Brijesh Sharma took 2 wickets apiece.

Who’s winning RR or RCB?

RCB would back themselves to defend the target, given their ultra-attacking approach was somewhat successful. RR would bank on Yashasvi Jaiswal & Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to get the team off to a blistering start as a 60-70 run powerplay can put RR in ascendancy. RCB, though, are slight favorites as the pitch can deteriorate a bit.
