England, under the regime of head coach Brendon McCullum & captain Harry Brook, has an arduous task on their hands. England will take inspiration after winningthe T20I series against Sri Lanka by 2-1, but their woes against spin are still a concern. Harry Brook has a stern task on his hand to win his record 3rd Title, as in India & Sri Lanka, the conditions would be very testing, and once again, the onus will be on Jos Buttler to set the tone at the top of the order, despite not being a captain.
ECB, though have taken a bold decision by dropping the explosive batter Liam Livingstone from the main squad. The resurgence of Sam Curran has given the side a huge boost, who can contribute in all the 3 facets of the game. England, though, would fancy their chances for a shot at the glory as no team has won 3 ICC T20 WC titles in the history of ICC T20 WCs.
Strengths
England has a very long batting lineup. The inclusion of Liam Dawson has bolstered their batting line-up; a 35-year-old spin bowling all-rounder has a tremendous amount of experience in franchise cricket as well as for England. Brendon McCullum surprisingly has made Tom Banton a middle order batter at No.4 batting position, which makes their batting lineup quite flexible.
Phil Salt is tipped to set the stage on fire as his lusty blows can rattle the opposition. Phil Salt has the license to launch an attack from ball 1 as his 30-ball 80 runs knock can wreck the opponent and bury them alive. With England playing their matches in Mumbai & Kolkata, which is quite batting-friendly wickets, England can back themselves to dethrone the bowling attacks.
Weaknesses
Lack of specialist bowlers can hurt England. The side is too reliant on Jamie Overton & Sam Curran for the middle overs phase. There’s no doubt that Adil Rashid can fox the batters with his sly variations, but the unavailability of injured Mark Wood can be a huge loss for the Britishers, given he was part of the ICC T20 WC 2022 triumph.
England also lacks a stabilizer in the middle order. They have a lot of power hitters present, perhaps Joe Root could have got another chance, given he last played for England in the ICC T20 WC in the 2016 edition, where he scored 249 runs with a strike rate in excess of 140+. It will be fascinating to see whether Jos Buttler continues to open the batting or bats in the middle order, as he is someone who can hold one end.
Opportunities
Liam Dawson’s experience would be invaluable, given that he can get an unexpected promotion at the top of the order. Dawson can play a whirlwind cameo and change the complexion of the match. The decision to make Will Jacks lower middle order is quite baffling, given he has experience of opening the batting for England.
It seems that Baz is open to a lot of experimentation, or we can say, confusing the opponent with his combination. We are all very well aware of the fact that England has had a torrid run over the last year or so, as a triumph can end all the discussion. The Bouncer & Bar incident of Harry Brook is still making unnecessary headlines as the English media is digging a lot and questioning the ECB & Brendon McCullum.
Threats
Jofra Archer’s lethal spell can destroy the opposition. With England due to face Italy, Nepal, Scotland & West Indies, it’s quite evident that England will advance to the semi-finals. England’s opening encounter is against Nepal on 8th February at Mumbai, which is an afternoon match. Baz would be well aware of the fact that they can’t afford to be complacent, as Jofra Archer’s workload can also have to be managed, given he is quite injury-prone.
Jacob Bethell, who is tipped to be the next Ben Stokes, would be keen to make a mark. England looks quite a formidable unit with almost all bases covered. If we look at the 2016 T20 WC, England were crushed by West Indies in the final as the scars of that defeat are still despite winning the T20 WC 2022. Jofra Archer & Jacob Bethell can enlighten the T20 WC 2026 for England as both have a knack to punch above their weight

Prediction
England looks quite well equipped for advancing to the Super 8 stage unless something dramatic happens in 1st round. Harry Brook, though, will have to tackle the spin nemesis as Mumbai & Kolkata have a knack for sharp turns. We can say England can make it to the final of the marquee tournament, given their depth in both batting & bowling departments. The question, though, for England is who can be their crisis man apart from Jos Buttler, as if the top order collapses,s then there can be a brutal downfall forthe Britishers.
