IPL 2025: 3 Best Batting Performances In Marquee Tournament

This IPL had been a feast for the batters. Even though not all the pitches are flat decks like last year, still batters continued their domination, and this season witnessed the most 200-plus totals in an IPL season ( 51 times ), beating the previous record ( 42 times ) set in the last season. Let’s look at the best batting performances in IPL 2025.

Shreyas Iyer’s 87*(41) vs MI, Qualifier 2

Shreyas Iyer was picked by PBKS for a whooping price of 26.75 crores in the mega auction, and they made him their captain. Iyer showed his brilliance in both batting and captaincy this year, as he crossed 600 runs for the first time in an IPL season, and PBKS qualified for the finals after 11 years.

Shreyas Iyer’s knock of 87*(41) against the five-time champions MI in the high-pressure game of Qualifier 2 while chasing 204 was one of the best knocks of the tournament and in the history of IPL playoffs. He entered to bat when the team score was 55/2 in 5.1 overs. He took his time to settle and took the responsibility of playing the long innings while chasing a huge target. He scored boundaries on the bad balls and weak links of the opponent and gave respect to the good deliveries.

Shreyas took calculated risks to play on par with the required run rate. He took on Reece Topley on the 13th over for 3 sixes and changed the whole momentum of the game. He didn’t fail to punish a single overpitched delivery.

Shreyas Iyer even tackled the Yorkers of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult by guiding them to the boundary in the thirdman and backward point region. My bowlers failed to attack him with the bodyline bouncers.

When 23 runs were required to win from 12 balls, he smashed 4 sixes in the 19th over of Ashwani Kumar and finished the match in style.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 101( 38 ) Match no.47

RR had a forgettable season as they finished in 9th place in the points table. Even in their worst season, they had the best run rate in the powerplay with scoring over 11 runs per over. The reason for that is Yashashvi Jaiswal, and this 14-year-old kid, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Vaibhav Suryavanashi made his debut against LSG and scored 34 runs in his first game. He smashed the first ball of his IPL career, bowled by Shardul Thakur for a six over extra cover. He faced GT in the next match that too in a high pressure situation of chasing 210.

GT were the table toppers and had world class bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma, Rashid Khan, Washington Sundar and Sai Kishore. But, he smashed every one of them and made this as a one sided chase.

For the first time, GT bowling unit looked clueless against this 14-year old kid. He smashed the fastest century by an Indian and second fastest century in IPL history after Chris Gayle. He scored his maiden IPL hundred in 35 balls. He got out for 101( 38 ) in the last ball of the 12th over.

The team score was 166 at that time. He made sure GT never comeback in the game. RR finished the match in 15.5 over with 8 wickets in hand. Jaiswal stood till the end ( 70 off 40 ). He played at the strike rate of 175, but Vaibhav’s knock made this look like a second fiddle innings.

Jitesh Sharma 85*( 33 ) vs LSG Match No.70

RCB faced LSG in the last league match of the season. This was a must-win match for them to finish at the top 2 in the points table. LSG gave them a tough target of 228 to achieve that. Rishabh Pant scored a fantastic hundred ( 118* off 61 ).

Chasing the big total, RCB openers gave an amazing start. Phil Salt was dismissed for 30 run off 19 balls. William O Rourke dismissed both Rajat Patidar ( 14 off 7 ) and Liam Livingstone ( 0 off 1 ). The score was 90/3 in 8 overs at that time. Virat was still there.

But, when Virat was dismissed in the 11th over for 54 off 30 balls, everyone thought its over for RCB. The team score was 123/4 in 11.2 overs. They still needed 105 runs from 52 balls.

Jitesh Sharma walked in and played his best innings of his life. Him along with Mayank Agarwal where scoring boundaries at regular intervals to keep the run rate up. Jitesh played as a stand in captain on that day and played a captain’s knock to win the match.

He was dismissed at 49(21) by Digvesh but unfortunately it was a no ball and he got a second chance. He hit the free hit ball for a six and completed his maiden half-century in IPL. He never looked back from there and finished the match with a six.

Jitesh scored an unbeaten 85 runs off 33 balls and RCB chased the target with 6 wickets in hand and 8 balls to spare.
