The UP Warriorz team earned their inaugural win of WPL 2025 through a 33-run triumph against Delhi Capitals. Warriorz achieved their inaugural defensive victory in the season with Chinelle Henry‘s high-scoring innings and Kranti Goud’s key bowing spell.
Bowling Brilliance Sets the Tone
While chasing a challenging total of 178 runs, Delhi Capitals had an arduous task on their hands. Kranti Goud stepped into her best form throughout the match in Bengaluru after bowling only four overs in the previous two games. Her first delivery was hit for a boundary by Meg Lanning yet she retrieved the situation by transporting a deceptive spinner that bowled out the Capitals’ leader. Goud established a tight boundary-length perspective which prevented Delhi batters from scoring and her second spell functioned as an important pivot point.

The dismissal of Shafali Verma happened with a short delivery and afterward she dismissed Jess Jonassen before concluding her spell by taking out Jemimah Rodrigues. Through her spell of 3.4 overs Goud recorded 4 wickets that kept Delhi Capitals from gaining momentum.
Grace Harris Caps It Off With a Hat-Trick
Throughout the match Harris proved herself a batting allrounder although she failed to score many runs she was successful with bowling. She initially dismissed Annabel Sutherland during her opening spell then finished her hat-trick with Niki Prasad followed by Arundhati Reddy then Minnu Mani in the last over. Harris delivered 4 wickets while giving away 15 runs in 2.5 overs and thus secured victory for Warriorz.

Chinelle Henry’s Blazing Finish Rescues UP Warriorz
The Indian Women in Blue faced six wickets and 89 runs when Henry joined his batting partners. She began a massacre of Capitals bowlers after taking over the attack. During her innings Henry managed to score fifty runs off 18 balls by hitting two fours together with eight sixes making her only the second player to do so in WPL history. Strong hitting transformed this initially unsatisfactory score into something that challenged the opposition.

Delhi Capitals Bowling Performance
At Delhi Capitals the bowler Jess Jonassen showcased the best performance by taking four wickets while giving away 31 runs during the match. The two main bowling performances came from Marizanne Kapp who performed economically and took two important wickets and Arundhati Reddy who scored a pair of dismissals despite having high cost runs.

The team led by UP Warriorz finally registered their maiden victory in WPL 2025 through a balanced gameplay. Chinelle Henry hit spectacular shots with her bat while Goud and Harris delivered an all-round display of bowling that led UP Warriorz to triumph over Delhi Capitals thereby forcing a reevaluation of their batting approach.
