In yesterday’s match against SRH, Jofra Archer entered to the unwanted record books of the most expensive spell in IPL History. Jofra Archer started his opening spell in the fourth over of the match and conceded 23 runs in his first over, his express pace which is arsenal was no longer a threat.
Jofra Archer’s forgettable performance
Every RR bowler was getting smashed in this high-scoring match and Archer got the most of it. Nothing went right for him as the Royal’s fielding was not on par in this match. He conceded 76 runs in his four overs which is the most expensive spell ever in the history of IPL.
Ishan Kishan was toying with Jofra Archer, in the 13th over he whacked him for 3 sixes. It looked as if Ishan Kishan was making fun of the speedster’s express pace as hitting sixes to cover & point isn’t an easy thing to do. SRH got to a mammoth score of 286-6 & RR tried but fell short by 44 runs.
Jofra Archer’s unexpected downslide
Archer was a sensation when he came in to the England cricket team during 2018/19 times. He got express pace and variations as well. He was on the same league of Bumrah those days. It’s sad to see a bowler of such a legacy in this unwanted list.
Injuries ruined his career. After that major back injury, he was never the same Archer which he used to be before. He lost that skill of varying the pace. Jofra Archer used to be the master of it. He will hit the deck with 150 KPH and the next ball will wobble at 110 KPH. We are not seeing those things often nowadays.
It was very hard to predict his pace and pick him from the hand. It’s hard to see such a champion bowler struggling like this. Jofra Archer though had shown glimpses of getting back to his old peak form against recently concluded ICC CT 2025 but still long way to go.
Still there are hopes on Jofra Archer as he was returning to his home franchise Rajasthan Royals after 4 years and they bought him for a whooping price of 12.75 cr. But it’s a disappointing start for both Archer and Royals. Let’s hope he bounces back in the upcoming matches.
