SRH vs PBKS: Ishan Kishan’s Flamboyant Knock Wallops PBKS

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad turned into a batting paradise once again, but the night’s biggest entertainer was undoubtedly Sunrisers Hyderabad star Ishan Kishan. In a pressure game against the Punjab Kings, Ishan Kishan produced a fearless and flamboyant innings that completely shifted the momentum towards SRH.

Ishan Kishan’s aggressive batting, mixed with PBKS’s costly fielding mistakes, helped Sunrisers Hyderabad post a massive 235/4 before eventually sealing a convincing 33-run victory. While the scoreboard showed SRH’s dominance, the real story of the night was how Punjab Kings repeatedly let Kishan off the hook.

Ishan Kishan’s Counterattack Put PBKS Under Pressure

After the early wickets of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, Punjab Kings briefly looked back in the contest. But Ishan Kishan had other plans. The stylish left-hander immediately went after the bowlers, attacking both pace and spin with complete confidence.

Kishan smashed 55 runs off just 32 balls at a stunning strike rate of over 171. His innings included elegant cover drives, fearless pull shots, and powerful sixes that electrified the Hyderabad crowd.

More importantly, Kishan stitched together a crucial partnership with Heinrich Klaasen during the middle overs. Their aggressive batting ensured SRH never slowed down, even after losing wickets early.

PBKS Gave Ishan Kishan Three Lifelines

Punjab Kings will especially regret their fielding performance because Kishan was handed three clear lifelines during his innings. Every missed opportunity allowed him to grow in confidence, and PBKS eventually paid a heavy price.

First Drop – Cooper Connolly at Deep Mid-Wicket

The first major chance came when Kishan was batting on just 9 runs. He mistimed a shot towards the deep, where Cooper Connolly settled under what looked like a comfortable catch at deep mid-wicket.

However, Connolly failed to hold on to the ball, giving Kishan an early escape. At that stage, SRH were still rebuilding after losing quick wickets, and dismissing Kishan could have shifted the momentum towards PBKS.

Second Drop – Lockie Ferguson at Deep Backward Square Leg

Punjab’s second mistake came later in the innings when Kishan attempted an aggressive shot against Yuzvendra Chahal. The ball travelled towards deep backward square leg, where Lockie Ferguson got into position but failed to complete the catch as his score was 18.

The missed opportunity frustrated the PBKS camp because Kishan was already looking dangerous by then.

Third Lifeline – Fielding Misjudgment in the Deep

In the same 11th over of the sly spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, Prabhsimran Singh missed the stumping of Ishan Kishan to deepen the agony for PBKS. Ishan Kishan made PBKS pay after 3 chances.

PBKS’ Fielding Collapse Became the Turning Point

The frustration was clearly visible on PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer’s face. Dropped catches, poor judgment under pressure, and missed opportunities completely hurt Punjab’s momentum.

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin later explained that the Hyderabad outfield and unusual bounce may have contributed to the fielding struggles. Still, at the IPL level, such errors often decide matches.

Adding more drama after the match, Kishan posted a cheeky message on social media saying, “Catch me, if you can,” which instantly went viral among fans.

A Knock Full of Confidence and Intent

Ishan Kishan’s innings was not just entertaining — it was match-defining. He punished every mistake PBKS made and turned small opportunities into a massive impact for SRH.

For Punjab Kings, this loss will sting badly because they know the truth: giving a batter like Ishan Kishan multiple chances is almost like giving the game away itself.
