Sanath Jayasuriya wants Sri Lanka to play well
Sri Lanka had a disastrous campaign in the T20 World Cup newly appointed captain Wanindu Hasaranga was unable to lead the team and so the team failed to perform. After a few days, Sri Lanka’s head coach Chris Silverwood resigned from the position due to family reasons at the same time team was underperforming, and recently Wanindu Hasaranga also stepped down as captain. Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as interim head coach and Charith Asalanka will be leading the side in T20Is. Sanath Jayasuriya said while speaking to the media he mentioned that the team should play well as Virat and Rohit won’t be there and the team should take undue advantage of this which may help team to perform well in upcoming years, especially in T20Is. Sanath Jayasuriya said:
“Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the best players in the world. Looking at their talent and the kind of cricket they have played we all know where they belong, along with Jadeja. Their absence will be a loss to the Indian team and we have to take maximum advantage of that,” Jayasuriya said ahead of the T20I series (via Sportstar).
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s absence will miss the team as their contributions to the Indian team are uncountable and both of us have given countless memories in T20Is, so the era ends that’s all we can say.
