Sri Lanka finally finished the drought of 27 years winning the bilateral series against India, Sri Lanka dominated throughout the series while India was seen like amateurs so they lost the series. The island nation looked on a mission in all the 3 ODIs as the bowling unit showed a never to say die attitude despite having no huge totals on the boards.

According to sources with knowledge, it is strongly believed that India will play all of their Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Sri Lanka and if that happens then India’s batting line up can be exposed against opposition team. PCB needs to take a stand and convince BCCI for traveling to Pakistan else they will suffer huge financial loss if the tournament is shifted to another country.

Basit Ali slams BCCI’s selecting committee

India’s ODI squad looked quite strong as KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer made a comeback and even Rohit and Virat came back to action after the T20 World Cup triumph, but only Rohit Sharma was able to score runs while others weren’t challenging the bowlers nor they showed their aggression. Sri Lankan spinners played a huge role in winning the series, Dunith Wellalage scalped 5 wickets in the third ODI while Jeffrey Vandersay picked 6 wickets and dismantled the whole Indian team. Former Pakistan player Basit Ali has slammed the selection committee for poor selection of players and he also mentioned that two players who were neglected are Surya Kumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Basit Ali said:

“This series has shown that Yashasvi Jaiswal is a far better player than Shubman Gill. It was a massive blunder from the selection committee to not pick Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav.”

“Yes, Virat Kohli looked out of form, but what were the others doing? They were just looking to hit good-looking shots and fours. Rishabh Pant too hit a four off the first ball. This is not cricket.”

What will be the next move from India as they will start their home series with Bangladesh on September 19. Will Gautam Gambhir make any changes for upcoming series?
