Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the third and final T20I of the 3-match series to clinch it 2-1. It’s a dominant victory for Bangladesh, and the highest run chased by a visiting team in Sri Lanka.
Highest score by an opener
Tanzid Tamim scored an unbeaten 73 off just 47 balls, which helped the visitors chase the target with ease. This is the highest score by a Bangladesh opener against Sri Lanka in T20Is. He broke the 4-year-old record of Mohammed Naim, who scored 62 runs off 52 balls in Sharjah during the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Captain Litton Das
This is the second away T20I series win for Litton Das as a captain. He led the team, which swept the West Indies as 3-0 on their home soil. He became the only Bangladesh Captain to win more than one away T20I series.
Litton Das holds another record of losing all the tosses as a captain. He has captained the side in 9 T20I matches, and unfortunately, has lost the toss in all of them.
First series win
This is the first T20I series win for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka. These two teams have faced each other in seven T20I series, and this is the first time they have won. This is also the first series for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka in any format.
50 for Mahedi Hasan
Bangladesh spinner Mahedi Hasan registered his best bowlng figures in T20I in this match ( 4-11-4 ). He has completed the milestone of 50 T20I wickets, becoming only the fifth bowler to achieve this feat in his country after Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam.
