ENG-W vs IND-W: India Women Script A Record Run Chase Which Breaks Records

Indian women, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, registered a record run chase in the first ODI against England women to lead the series 1-0. Deepti Sharma took India Women over the victory line and equaled the record of another Sharma of the Indian team.

India chased 259 against England in the first ODI. This is India’s second-highest chase in ODIs. India’s top 3 run chases in ODIs came in the last 4 years.

Women in Blue broke the 28 year-old record of South Africa for the highest run chase against England at their home soil. India also become the first team to successfully chase 200-pls totals twice against England in England.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s unit also equaled the record of Sri Lanka in chasing 250-plus totals for 3 times which is the most among other Asian teams:

Deepti Sharma scored an unbeaten 62, which helped the Women in Blue chase the record total. It was her 14th half-century in ODI cricket. She equaled the record for the seventh most fifties for Women in Blue in ODIs, along with Jaya Sharma
