SL vs IND: Rajasthan Royals Is Assisting The Sri Lankan Side Claims Sanath Jayasuriya

Rajasthan Royals is assisting the Sri Lankan side for the series against India, claims Sanath Jayasuriya. The three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka starts on Saturday, July 27th.

Sri Lankan’s interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya disclosed that Rajasthan Royal’s high-performance director, Zubin Bharucha, has assisted the batters in getting ready for the three-match T20I series. Gautam Gambhir is all set with the Men-In-Blue for his first assignment as a head coach in white ball cricket. After the T20 series, Gambhir will also guide the men’s team in THE ODI series against Sri Lanka. While Surya Kumar Yadav will lead the T20I squad, Rohit Sharma is the skipper of the ODI side. Shubman Gill serves as the vice-captain in both series.

Sanath Jayasuriya: “We got Zubin from Rajasthan Royals”

After the Lanka Premier League wrapped up on July 21st, with Jaffna Kings lifting the trophy, the Sri Lankan side had only six days to prepare for the series. However, Zubin Bharucha helped the Sri Lankan side with practice before the series against India. Interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya revealed that the practice sessions started just after the Lanka Premier League (LPL) ended.

Moreover, he added that as many cricketers were involved in participating in the LPL and were occupied with the game. In addition, the staff wanted the Players to practice as much as possible. Lastly, Sanath Jayasuriya expected that the cricketers of the Sri Lankan squad might have had a good grip on techniques and approaches learned in the practice session. In an interview with PTI, Sanath Jayasuriya said,

“We just started the sessions just after the LPL. Most of the players are playing the LPL, so they were busy with cricket and what we wanted (for them) was to play cricket as much as possible”

“We got Zubin from Rajasthan Royals and we had about six days of work and also with the other cricketers who finished with the LPL. I hope the players have learnt what you (management) wanted to do in terms of practice and their technique. It is important to learn as international cricketers new techniques, new approaches and shot-making to be effective”

The India vs. Sri Lanka T20I and ODI series will be streaming live on the Sony Liv app. In addition, the broadcasting rights are with the SONY sports network. The first T20I between India and Sri Lanka starts on July 27th with the second game on July 28th and the final match will be on July 30th. Moreover, all the T20I games will be hosted at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
