Former head coach of Indian men’s cricket, Ravi Shastri, is optimistic about team India trashing Australia, making a hat-trick win on the host’s soil. Australia will host the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/2025 later this year.

Previously, Ricky Ponting remarked on who will conquer the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The former Australian captain predicted Australia seizing the series by 3-1. The Australian legend said that he is rooting for Australia to win. Furthermore, he added that although there might be a draw somewhere in the series due to bad weather, Australia will end up winning the title. Ricky Pointing is also excited about the occurrence of five Test matches in the series.

“It’s Going To Be India’s Batting Against The Australian Fast Bowlers”: Ravi Shastri

Former cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri backs India for a win in the Test series against Australia. According to the 62-year-old, India will continue their winning streak by winning the third consecutive Test series against Australia. He pointed out Indian bowlers being in the best form for the competition. In an episode of the ICC Review Podcast, Ravi Shastri said,

“It is going to be one heck of a series and India have every chance of making it a hat-trick because they’ve got their bowlers fit and if they can bat well, they can tickle (beat) Australia once again,”

Since India has been victorious on the two occasions(2018/19 and 2020/21) of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, it is a payback time for Australia. Ravi Shastri pointed out that the Australians will be hungry for redemption against India as they suffered two consecutive defeats in their home.

“We know what Australia will be wanting (revenge). They will be thirsty, they’d be looking to go at the throats of the Indians because they’ve been beaten there (in Australia) twice,”

Furthermore, Ravi Shastri discussed about the bowling attack of Australia. According to the Indian legend, Australia’s bowling attack has versatility and with the addition of Nathan Lyon, it has become an all-round treat. Ravi Shastri also said that they will be focusing on getting 20 wickets in every game to help Australia win the series. He also mentioned that the competition is going to be between Indian batters and Australian pacers. Ravi Shastri further added that,

“The attack is pretty much the same. One of the greatest fast bowling attacks – [one of the greatest] all-round attacks when you add Nathan Lyon there – in a long, long time. And one of the best in the history of the game. They’ll be looking for those 20 wickets, game after game to help Australia win the series.”

“It’s going to be India’s batting against the Australian fast bowlers. And of course, the Indian bowling attack is going to be something everyone will be waiting to see.”

Lastly, Ravi Shastri mentioned the presence of pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, alongside spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, the strong pillars of the Indian bowling attack. He also mentioned that the upcoming series is early anticipated, and India is poised to secure a hat-trick of series victories in Australia. He said,

“With (Jasprit) Bumrah fit, (Mohammed) Shami fit, you’ve got Mohammed Siraj there. You’ve got the likes of (Ravinchandran) Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja and some very good bench strength as well. One can’t wait for that series to start and (I think) India can do the hat-trick (of series victories in Australia).”
