PAK vs SA 3rd T20I Review: Pakistan Win This Series In Suprising Fashion As They Played In A Way No One Expected

With this series officially over, it seemed to have a complete change as the Proteas first seemed to have complete control, before Pakistan came back to shock everyone. Seeing that the home side was under complete pressure after heavily underperforming during their first match, things changed with the performance of many pieces becoming much better. Seeing that Babar Azam has looked a little close to his old form, it will boost this side’s confidence heading into some key tournaments, including the T20I World Cup. As captain Salman Ali Agha is continuing to show slow improvement, it will come down to if he can keep this up or things will change once again.

On the other side, South Africa will take this match as a very tough series loss that they should have had and will now need to go back to the drawing board. Knowing that they have a very important series against India coming up, they will need to get rid of these previous issues and focus ahead to what’s important. As they didn’t have Aiden Markram or Kagiso Rabada play in this series, they were missing their two key leaders in this format, alongside many other big names. With them slowly returning back to the side, captain Donovan Ferreira has shown that he has enough experience to be vital in the future and will look for his chances to make their main squad.

South Africa Batting Starts Of Very Slow Before Rapid Runs Are Struck Towards The End

Looking at the way this Proteas unit batted today, it was clear that their back order really had an impact in making the score much higher than it should have been. Another frustrating score of 139/9, it was pretty clear that Quinton De Kock didn’t look in good touch at all and got removed in two balls early on. Someone whose trying to get back into that old form, it still seemed like a challenge, while Lhuan-Dre Pretorious departed for a golden duck right after him. Knowing that Reeza Hendricks was still in from the right side, Dewald Brevis was able to come in with confidence since he knew his partner would be going for more ground shots than anything else.

Seeing that, Brevis was able to smack two sixes after a pretty slow start and finish at 21 runs, while moving South Africa to 38/2, before being caught. Having seen Matthew Breetzke get removed for one run again, pressure really grew for this side as they hit a stage of 42/4. Then in came Donovan Ferreira, who created a 38-run combination with Hendricks, while he was able to smash 29 runs in just 14 deliveries. Getting four combined boundaries, including three massive sixes, it looked like South Africa was on the charge before his wicket fell. Then, George Linde was removed for a clean-duck, and after Hendricks was caught for 34 runs after helping them get to 95/7, Corbin Bosch had a brilliant 30 runs to help make their score a little more manageable.

Pakistan’s Bowling Attack Once Again Showed A Very Surprising Performance No One Was Expecting

For Pakistan, their bowlers were a shocking aspect of this match, as no one expected this level of ability from them. After already showing great dominance yesterday, consistency was the thing many questioned, and they finally answered the question on the right side. Despite Shaheen Afridi having recently struggled a lot to do much with his economy, he actually showed up big time today and was able to keep his economy under 7. Taking three wickets, it really seemed like he got a lot of pace in his action, and the confidence struck him, too. With Salman Mizra having another fantastic performance from the left end, he showed to be the more consistent bowler again with a 4.00 economy.

Taking another wicket as well, this is someone Pakistan should definitely have in their future plans. Knowing that Faheem Ashraf also got a full load of over today, he had one of his better performances after getting to an economy that was near 7, and also creating two big-time catches against South Africa’s power hitters. Although this was a little bit of an off day for Mohammed Nawaz, who had allowed over 12 runs an over and couldn’t create any threat, it was also true because Usman Tariq was called up to be a key spinner with his unique action. Allowing 26 during his full four overs, their side was closed out by Saim Ayub, who had one brilliant over of spin.

Pakistan: Run Chase Seemed More Than Easy For This Side

Seeing Pakistan’s batting attack come up big towards the end was a key feature in seeing how much they could grow down the line. A group that has seemed to find issues with top-order batting and consistency up there, they seemed to be facing that same problem today with Saim Ayub going out very quickly. In a situation where they were stuck at 8/1, Babar Azam and Shahibzada Farhan had a massive partnership with each other to ease all that tension. Combining for 36 runs, they really started putting together great shots and looked on point to help this team reach 44/2. Seeing that Farhan scored 19 runs on 18 deliveries, it became pretty clear he was able to find open parts of the ground.

This wicket led to the massive partnership that helped Pakistan cross the target between Salman Ali Agha and Babar Azam. As both batsmen looked completely on point, it seemed like they could attack any type of spinners or pacers who were trying to bowl at him. With them scoring 76 runs together, it helped this side reach a 120 mark that put them in the driver’s seat. Seeing that Ali Agha was the third wicket gone for 33 runs on 26 deliveries, he finished with four combined boundaries. On the other end, Azam hit a half-century and had a ton of fours which helped him find his groove again. Finishing with 68 runs on 47 balls, Hassan Nawaz and Usman Khan finished off the job.

South Africa: Middle-of-the-Pack Bowling Attack Couldn’t Get The Job Done

Looking at this Proteas unit, their bowlers really seemed to have an up-and-down day, which kept them in the game for a while before offically losing. Seeing that captain Donovan Ferreira produced four solid overs of spin in the match, it was pretty clear that he kept leaving the ball too short towards the end. Taking one wicket, he did keep a solid 7.5 economy was giving up a ton of boundaries to Pakistan’s power hitters. Talking about George Linde from the left end, he was someone who actually kept the economy very low and allowed just 20 in his four. With Corbin Bosch being their best pacer in this match, he was able to take some key wickets, like that of Babar Azam, while allowing just 6.00 per over. Closing it out, Lizaad Williams took a wicket, and Otneil Bartmaan had another tough over by giving up 17.
