Bangladesh registered a historic victory over Pakistan, but once again Pakistan couldn’t win the match and the streak of losing series continues. Pakistan skipper Shan Masood said that the pitch didn’t suit our expected conditions.
Bangladesh needed just 30 runs in the second innings, Pakistan committed a huge mistake by declaring the innings while batting first, Bangladesh took the advantage and so the result came as this in the end.
Ravichandran Ashwin speaks about the pitch of Pakistan and Bangladesh match
The pitch in Rawalpindi for the first test between Pakistan and Bangladesh was well suited for batters, however there was a turn in the pitch but later batters dominated on bowlers once they got set, Pakistan was shattered when 4 wickets were down but Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel scored centuries and stabilized the innings, later Pakistan declared the innings which was the greatest mistake and so Bangladesh surpassed the trail and scored 565 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim unfortunately missed out on his double century but it helped Bangladesh to remain in the game, this veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin raised questions about how any team can declare innings when the pitch helps you even more. Ravichandran Ashwin said:
“The match was in sleep mode for the first three days. Suddenly, Pakistan surprised me with a surprise when I was about to catch a flight. When I saw the highlights of the match, I understood one thing. The proper, tiring collapse on a final day. I haven’t seen that for a long time.”
“Teams don’t surrender in a pitch like this,” he continued. “In first-class cricket, strong teams will bat first and hit big. The wicket will be a batting wicket. In those two days, they will pull off an all-out in a tired state. When the wicket crumbles, they will get all out again. I got that depiction. There is nothing in the pitch. It’s an absolute road.”
“In fact, in the end, Rizwan was staging a fight. I didn’t understand a thing. Naseem Shah played a shot and left cheaply. I didn’t understand what just happened. I didn’t understand a thing.”
This win is truly an achievement and more than this for Bangladesh, currently, they are going through a very tough phase, riots, strikes and many more are going on so this win will be remembered for ages as they have defeated Pakistan for the first time. On that Ravichandran Ashwin lauds the Bangladesh team, Ravichandran Ashwin said:
“According to me, this news is not catching up on fire. Bangladesh beat Pakistan for the first time in Test cricket. It is just unbelievably good news, with what that country is going through. For the people, for what turmoil they are going through, the captain, the coach, everyone is proud. Nevertheless, a fantastic victory.”
