MI vs RCB: Phil Salt, Virat Kohli & Rajat Patidar Hammer MI

RCB posted a mammoth score of 240-4 in 20 overs against the mighty MI. Phil Salt, Virat Kohli & Rajat Patidar smashed turbulent half-centuries as it was a collective effort from RCB, who didn’t allow any bowler to settle down at the iconic Wankhede stadium.

Virat Kohli & Phil Salt torment MI in powerplay overs

RCB were told to bat first by MI as the surface had a bit of moisture. Phil Salt & Virat Kohli unleashed an attack on every bowler; it seemed as if book cricket was going on. Phil Salt was the destroyer in chief who brutally pumelled Mitchell Santner in the 5th over as he smashed 3 huge sixes and 1 four. RCB raced off to 71 runs in powerplay overs as MI bowlers were massacred, even Trent Boult’s pinpoint straight line & lengths were ineffective; Hardik Pandya was clueless.

Phil Salt continues MI’s demolition

There was carnage even in the over (8th one) of Mayank Markande, who was clobbered to 3 fours and 1 six by Phil Salt. Virat Kohli was quite happy to play the role of anchor as Phil Salt’s range-hitting was a wide one. The strategic time out was taken after 8 overs when the score was 95-0.

Shardul Thakur provided the breakthrough in the 11th over as Phil Salt’s fiery knock of 78 runs in 36 balls (*6 fours and 6 sixes) was ended. Rajat Patidar wasted no time & quickly started playing, taking down the bowlers. Mayank Markande once again was hammered & this time by Rajat Patidar, who smashed him 3 huge sixes.  It was a bit shocking to see that Shardul had a 10-ball over as his short ball off cutter variations weren’t proving to be effective, as he gave away 23 runs in that over. RCB’s score was 167-1 in 13 overs.

RCB flourish at the death overs

Virat Kohli completed his half-century in 37 balls as his calm & composed batting style irked MI batters. RCB’s score was 187-2 in 15 overs as Hardik got the better of Virat in the 15th over. Rajat Patidar, on the other end, was toying with the bowling unit. It seemed as if book cricket was going on a world-class MI’s bowling unit was looking very powerless.

Rajat Patidar played a captain’s knock as he was back in the dugout after scoring 53 runs in 20 balls. RCB’s score was 194-3 at the departure of Patidar. Tim David provided the finishing touches as he scored 34 runs in 16 balls and hit 2 fours and 3 sixes. RCB ended their innings and scored a stupendous 240-4 in 20 overs. RCB hit 15 monstrous sixes and 18 fours, which is quite surreal in T20 cricket.

Who’s winning MI or RCB?

This is a herculean task for MI to chase down 241. It’s quite clear that MI needs to have 70-90 runs in powerplay overs. All eyes will be on the star batter Rohit Sharma as his experience would be invaluable. RCB on the other end need early wickets as that would make their job easier to win match. RCB are favorite to win the match.
