MI vs RCB: 3 Reasons For MI’s Heart-Wrenching Defeat Against RCB

MI and RCB clashed in a high-scoring thriller, where RCB won by 12 runs. MI was in the chase until the last over but couldn’t cross the line. there are various minor factors that denied the victory for the hosts.

Why always Jasprit Bumrah?

MI’s bowling was on spot in their last home match against KKR, where they bundled the opponent for 116 runs. But today, when Bumrah came back into the side, the entire bowling unit looks like they are dependent only on him. Of course, the pitch was much flatter today, but none of the other bowlers were effective.

Jasprit Bumrah gave just 29 runs in his 4 overs and picked 1 wicket. Others conceded 192 runs in 16 overs and picked 4 wickets.

Poor Bowling strategy

Hardik Pandya missed a few tricks in bowling rotation, which could have been effective. Youngster Vignesh Puthur bowled his first and conceded 10 runs and took the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal, who was striking dangerously. But Hardik cut his spell and didn’t give him another over.

He went with Santner, who went for 40 runs in his 4 overs and ended wicketless. He bowled in the middle overs and had only one over to bowl in the death. So he had to give the ball to Trent Boult, who is not popular for his death bowling. Santner bowled 2 overs in death and got smashed by Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar.

Hardik could have given an extended spell to Vignesh and he operating at Death overs could have given better results. His slower ones would have been more effective in the death overs.

Unstable Batting Order against RCB

Naman Dhir came at the top order yesterday and played a blinder knock in the powerplay and set the tone for the chase. But today after Rohit Sharma’s arrival, he was sent to bat down the order. At least he could have been sent at no.3 or no.4 and Hardik Pandya coming after him could have also made a difference in the result yesterday.

Suryakumar Yadav had an off day yesterday. He was struggling in the middle to time the ball. His slow knock of 28 runs off 26 balls affected the result as MI lost the match by just 12 runs.
