The tall Kiwi fast bowler is set to come back into the IPL after four years. Kyle Jamieson is about to replace Lockie Ferguson the Punjab Kings. Punjab is currently in the 3rd position in the points table with 15 points from 11 matches. They have better chances of making it into the playoffs.
Their next 3 matches :
vs RR on 18th May at Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur
vs DC on May 21st at Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur
vs MI on 26th May at Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur
They have signed Kyle Jamieson as the replacement for injured Lockie Ferguson. They already have Xavier Barlett in the bench.
Kyle Jamieson’s IPL records
He was signed by RCB in 2021 season for a whooping price of 15 crores. He played 9 matches and took 9 wickets. He was never seen in IPL after that. CSK signed him last year, but he ruled out due to an injury. His career started like he is the next big thing cricket, but faded away because of his injury.
He became injury-prone, and that affected his form a well. He played for Quetta Gladiators in PSL this season.
Who does he replace?
Kyle Jamieson is signed as the replacement for Lockie Ferguson. But Lockie is warming the bench already. He might replace Marco Jansen in the eleven. Janson is part of the South Africa squad for the WTC final against Australia. So he might not be available for the playoffs.
The WTC Final is scheduled on June 11th, and the Australian and South African players might leave their respective franchises after the league stages which ends on May 26, to prepare for the big final. Mitchell Starc has announced that he is not returning for the second phase of IPL.
Kyle can create the bounce with the new ball in a good pace and can be handy with the bat too. He will perfectly fit into the shoes of Marco Jansen but Jansen’s replacement hasn’t been named yet. Jamieson can make use of the new ball in the powerplay, but his death bowling skills will be tested.
