Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka addressed  player performance on the field and  mega auction with team strategy. LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka can be seen very much passionate with the team and it’s players. LSG couldn’t qualify for play-offs in IPL 2024 edition and couldn’t perform according to their credentials.

LSG retained Ravi Bishnoi (14 Crores) , Mayank Yadav (11 Crores), Mohsin Khan (4 Crores), Ayush Badoni (4 Crores) & Nicholas Pooran (21 Crores). According to sources with knowledge, it is strongly believed that Nicholas Pooran will lead the side in the upcoming tournament. LSG would be aiming that the explosive batter Pooran can decimate the bowlers as over the last year or so, he has been a treat to watch in franchise cricket.

We wanted to retain player who have a mindset to win and who put the team before their personal goals- Sanjiv Goenka

LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka was having an interaction with Jio Cinema. Sanjiv Goenka shared a cryptic message by stating that they have retained the players who have a mindset to win as the ex-skipper KL Rahul wasn’t playing attacking cricket that too while opening the batting in IPL 2024 edition. Sanjiv Goenka emphasised that they were undoubtedly going to retain Nicholas Pooran and also said that the franchise wants to groom Indian players.

“We had a very simple mindset to go in with players who have a mindset to win, who put the team before their personal goals and aspirations. And we wanted to retain as much core as possible within our available purse,” said Sanjiv Goenka.

“We had a strong bowling unit, that’s why we went with three bowlers [Bishnoi, Mayank and Mohsin] from the previous season and all Indians. Pooran was a no-brainer. Ayush has done well for us at No. 6 and No. 7,” he added.

Huge Mega Auction for LSG

LSG head coach Justin Langer would have got a clear idea that there’s difference between coaching a national team & IPL team. Justin Langer would be eyeing to find a balance between youth & experience as this time there are high chances that the wickets would be sporting which would make contest more intriguing.

The opening pair of Quinton de Kock & Kyle Mayers (*if LSG buy them in Auction) can be very much destructive as they have earlier played for LSG. We should not forget that LSG have one RTM card and they can use them for one of Quinton or Mayers. We can expect a lot of surprises in IPL 2025 Mega Auction and the franchise will be keen to have a sturdy squad.
