Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have astonished everyone wby retaining only 3 players in the form of star Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar & Yash Dayal. The flamboyant Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was shockingly not retained despite the reports stating that he might be available post March 2025 after completing the rehabilitation. Cameron Green can compete in all the 3 facets of the game and his tall height can make life harder for batters and also can play a breath-taking cameo for the team which is priceless.
Cameron Green earlier was with MI in 2023 edition but was traded to RCB in the next year. Green scored 255 runs with a strike rate of 143.26 and took 10 wickets for RCB. RCB have a knack of making surprise retentions as earlier the shrewd leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal of RCB wasn’t retained nor the franchise bid for him. Even Chahal wanted to play the last match for RCB in IPL ; perhaps the strategy makers of RCB think out of the box.
Cameron Green is out of IPL due to injury- Mo Badat
RCB director Mo Badat issued a statement from RCB social media page. Mo Badat pointed out that they could have retained Cameron Green but due to injury they didn’t take that decision.
“There was one other player we certainly would have retained. That’s Cameron Green, but he’s unfortunately out of the IPL due to injury,” said Mo Badat.
Huge Mega Auction awaits RCB
RCB fans would be wondering why the lethal speedster Mohammed Siraj was not retained because now the franchises like MI & CSK can most likely bid for him. Siraj could have been retained at 11 Crores but we can expect a massive bidding war for the pacer as he has raw pace and quite good control as well.
Another astounding absence was of Glenn Maxwell who also had stated that he wants to be a part of RCB till he plays IPL. It won’t be wrong to say that RCB once again will have a topsy-truvy Mega Auction given the fact that they 83 crores only. It would be interesting to see if the stalwart Virat Kohli will be given the leadership as in 2021 IPL he had stepped down from the reins. Officially RCB haven’t named a captain till now; we should not forget that even when Faf du Plessis was the skipper; Virat had a say in almost every decision which is not a good sign.
