IPL 2025 : Franchise On Alert As Aakash Chopra Predicts Massive Bidding For Rishabh Pant In Upcoming Marquee Mega Auction

IPL 2025 Mega Auction is around the corner and we can expect a lot of changes in most of the teams. Rishabh Pant was not retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) and according to sources with knowledge it is stated that DC is looking for a new captain. Rishabh Pant couldn’t take DC to play-offs in IPL 2024 and with new coaching staff named by the franchise this change was quite on the cards.

In a latest interview, foregoing cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra emphasized the probable knock Rishabh Pant could have in the coming IPL 2025 auction. With consideration about Pant’s attainability swirling, Chopra conveyed belief that his inclusion could escalate auction to historic levels.

In spite of inquiries revolving Pant’s T20 performance, Chopra strongly have confidence in the young wicketkeeper-batsman will ignite rivalry among franchises if his name  comes in the auction. “I can give you in writing that the bank would be broken if his name comes in the auction,” Aakash Chopra stated, highlighting a bidding range between INR 25 to 30 crore.

“It’s being heard that Rishabh Pant might be available at the auction. Although the jury is out many people say his numbers in T20s are not that good, had only one breakthrough season in the IPL and hasn’t scored too many runs apart from that, I can give you in writing that the bank would be broken if his name comes in the auction,” he said (7:00)

Aakash Chopra suggested that Delhi Capitals, Pant’s earlier team, could also use an RTM (Right To Match) card to retain him. With every franchise surfing strategic rearrangements, Aakash Chopra presumes that Pant’s accessibility could be one of the biggest gossiping points of the 2025 IPL auction.

“RCB need a keeper, a batter, and maybe a captain. Punjab would need him as they won’t have anyone. Delhi would need him back, the RTM card would be available. KKR also need him. What about CSK, they would also need him. If Ishan Kishan is left out, Mumbai would also need him,” Chopra added

While suggesting that wicketkeeper-batters will bid for the maximum in IPL 2025, Chopra noted that Heinrich Klaasen, Nicholas Pooran, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler might be retained.

“Why would LSG not be interested even if they retain Nicholas Pooran? Everyone apart from Rajasthan would need him. Gujarat will also need him. They don’t have a keeper. So overall, Rishabh Pant will get a lot of money. He might go for 25-30 crores,” he observed.

According to Chopra, Pant’s name could trigger a historic surge in bids, making him one of the most sought-after players in IPL auction history.
