(3) Ravindra Jadeja ( 16/5 vs DCH in 2012 )

Ravindra Jadeja was bought by CSK for a whooping price of 9.7 crore at the auction. He was the expensive player in the auction as well. He proved his worth in this second match for the franchise. CSK faced Deccan Chargers in their second league match of the season. CSK batted first and scored 193 runs on the board.

Thanks to the brilliant performances from Jadeja and Bravo in the death overs. In the second innings, it was again the same man Jadeja with the ball. He came to attack in the crucial time where the game was even with DC batting at 77 for 2 in 10 overs. Then he started his magic and Deccan Batters had no answers for his questions. He ran through the middle order and made the game completely one sided. DC bundled up for 119 runs.

CSK ended with a dominant victory by 74 runs. Jaddu was awarded the man of the match and his figures of 16/5 in 4 overs still remains as the best bowling figure for the franchise.

(2) Doug Bollinger ( 4/13 vs DCH in SF, 2010 )

Doug Bollinger played an important role in CSK’s dominance in the earlier editions of IPL. During the Semi final match against the defending champions Deccan Chargers in 2010, he bowled a spectacular spell which helped CSK to reach the finals.

CSK batted first and posted 142 runs on the board. It seemed to be below-par total but CSK bowlers had the faith to defend it. Doug Bollinger lead the bowling attack by picking up the dangerous Adam Gilchrist and Tirumalasetti Suman at the top and put DC in the backfoot. He also picked 2 more wickets in the death and economical as well. With the support of other bowlers too, CSK managed to restrict DCH to 104 runs. CSK reached finals and won their first trophy in IPL history.

(1) Ravichandran Ashwin ( 3/16 vs RCB in 2011 finals )

The hometown boy Ravichandran Ashwin was an important pillar of CSK in the initial seasons. He was reuniting with his home franchise after 10 years for this IPL. He had bowled one of his best spells for the franchise at the biggest stage of the league.

It happened in the finals of 2011 season where CSK are playing at their home ground against RCB. CSK batted first and posted a huge total of 205 on the board. Thanks to long opening partnership of 159 runs from Murali Vijay and Micheal Hussey. RCB fans had high hopes on their dangerous opener Chris Gayle. He was extremely destructive in the season.

RCB came to bat and Ashwin picked Gayle in the first over and ended the hopes of RCB right there. He removed another opener Mayank Agarwal as well. RCB couldn’t bounce back after this early strike as they could manage to get only 147 runs in 20 overs. Ashwin was economical as well and ended his spell with 4-16-3. CSK defeated RCB and lifted the trophy at their home. They became the first team to defend the title in IPL.
