IND vs WI: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Onslaught Floors West Indies

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a splendid unbeaten knock of 173 runs in 253 balls and struck 22 fours. India’s score at the end of Day 1 was 318-2 in 90 overs. It was a near-perfect evening session and the whole of Day 1 for India, who won a crucial toss and opted to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal was quite invincible from the word go as he showed immense grit and determination, and flamboyance to dominate the West Indies.

Yashasvi Jaiswal & co start evening session in a bang

Roston Chase started the proceedings in the evening session and was greeted by Yashasvi Jaiswal with a bang. It felt as if Yashasvi Jaiswal was making a statement that he is no longer a newbie but a star player in the team, just like ex-players Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma.

B Sai Sudharsan, though, missed out on a well-deserved ton. B Sai Sudharsan was trapped LBW by Jomel Warrican in the 69th over as the ball spun massively, and DRS also couldn’t save B Sai Sudharsan. The elegant left-handed batter was dismissed on 87 runs in 165 balls as he hit 12 fours and was quite focused, with concentration at its peak. At that time, India’s score was 251-2 in 68.3 overs.

Shubman Gill & Yashasvi Jaiswal had ample time before the end of the evening session. West Indies’ fielders looked quite exhausted after a grueling Day 1 in the extreme heat of Delhi. India’s score at the end of the drinks break was 265-2, and they were roaring as West Indies’ inexperienced bowling unit was blatantly struggling.

Yashasvi Jaiswal & Shubman Gill continue dominance

Jomel Warrican & Khary Pierre were bowling in tandem, but there was no significant change in the fortunes of the West Indies. Shubman Gill was seen taking time, just like Yashasvi Jaiswal did at the start of the innings. The spinners made sure that there was no issue of the over-rate for Roston Chase’s brigade, but runs kept on piling magnificently and even run rate was a decent one of 3.53 and had 8 wickets in hand.

The second new ball was available but not taken; maybe the bowlers were not in good space. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s score went past 150 and scored also 300+; in the last 5 overs, India scored 23 runs, and there was some aggression by Shubman Gill & Yashasvi Jaiswal. India’s total tally went past 300, and the batting maestro Yashasvi Jaiswal’s score was 173 runs in 253 balls. India’s score was 318-2 in 90 overs.

What lies ahead on Day 2 for India & West Indies

India now would be aiming to get a mammoth score in excess of 500. There’s still an adequate amount of time and batting left for the Men in Blue. Who knows, Yashasvi Jaiswal might smash a triple century and etch his name in the history of books as only Virender Sehwag is an Indian batter to do that. Shubman Gill’s unit looks to take a massive upper hand on Day 2 and continue absolute dominance.

West Indies need to quickly take the second new ball. They not only need to hope but also work extremely hard to make a miraculous comeback in the match. Apart from Jomel Warrican, who took 2 wickets, the entire bowling unit had a forgettable outing. Roston Chase undoubtedly missed the services of Alzarri Joseph & Shamar Joseph, who are injured, but again a fight was missing from Men in Maroon.
